| isn't HcG too low to cause any real pregnancy symptoms and all the symptoms are from progesterone, which you could get on a BFN cycle also? |
|
Not necessarily. But the reality for me is that I didn't have any pregnancy symptoms for DD1 - NONE - until well after my BFP. In fact, it wasn't until about 8 weeks that I experienced the sore boobs and nausea of MS. Before then I felt frustratingly normal, though bloated from the progesterone. It was really surreal to have a beta showing I was pregnant and not feel pregnant at all.
With DD2 I did have very occasional shooting pain in my breasts - just three or four times at the end of my TWW. But who knows if that was a result of HCG or just progesterone. With DD2 I also didn't have any symptoms until around 7 or 8 weeks when morning sickness set in. On my BFP cycles I occasionally felt nausea or sore breasts but it was certainly the progesterone. |

I know it can happen. I did over 20 medicated cycles, all with progesterone and all bfn. I never had any symptoms before beta. And then I finally got pregnant and was nauseous starting at 12 dpo. My beta at 14 dpo was over 400 and I was sick the entire 9 months.
It's possible there is something else besides hcg that is happening, but they haven't identified it yet. I think there is still a lot they don't know about conception and early pregnancy. |
| I had pain in my left nipple around 14 dpo with my first pregnancy. My beta was at 18dpo and was in the 200s, so not very high. The pregnancy ended up ectopic, but I never had the same symptom with other cycles using progesterone nor did I have it with my successful pregnancy. After the fact, my nurse told me she knew I was pregnant when I called her about what I could use to alleviate the pain, as it was a pregnancy symptom. |

Yes. I've posted this before, but research has shown that within hours of 6-24 hours of conception the fertilized ovum produces a protein called Early Pregnancy Factor (EPF) designed to prepare the mother's body for pregnancy. The phenomenon is well-documented and there has even been discussion of developing pregnancy tests based on the presence of EPF but 1) it apparently would be a lot more complicated/expensive than the current HCG pee sticks, and 2) a significant percentage of fertilized embryos never implant, so it would be a lot less reliable in predicting actual live births.
So you could very easily have early PG symptoms that have nothing to do with HCG or progesterone, but with IVF that's still no ironclad guarantee that the embryo has implanted successfully and will produce a lasting pregnancy. |
| I had pg "symptoms" with every medicated cycle - BFN or BFP. Thank you p4 and e2. |
| Yes, I had symptoms before my beta. Within a week of my transfer my weight jumped up by 7 lbs, and my breasts were very painful at times. Neither of those things occurred with my negative cycle, nor with my chemical pregnancy, nor with my ectopic pregnancies. |
| This is OP. I have sore boobs on and off since 8dpo and mild cramping on and off. I last did ivf 3 years ago and don't remember symptoms on BFP vs bfn cycles. I had a chemical last month and I did have sore boobs right around beta but not sure if hcg level that low can cause symptoms. |
| I've had positive (x 2 both resulting in live births) and negative IVF cycles and felt exactly the same both times in the 2WW. PIO is remarkable at imitating pregnancy. |
| When you people have same symptoms from PIO as pregnancy do they start right away? Like soon after starting PIO? Or does it happen at 10/11/12 dpo right before beta when pregnancy symptoms would be? If it's just from progesterone wouldn't it start like within first week of doing PIO? |

| Oops I meant to say I agree. |
| Wow I hope this EPF is the real deal. I'm 2dpo on our last natural cycle before starting IUI's. I'm SOO tired and rundown even requiring naps (which I'm using a week of PTO this week- I shouldn't be tired from my staycation and I rarely need naps...) and my nipples are SOO sore too. Those things never happen. It's just weird, especially so soon after O... I really hope it's something. |

Pp who is 2dpo- at 2dpo the embryo hasn't even implanted yet. It's 4 cells and is in your Fallopian tube and not even in the uterus. The exhaustion and sore boobs are from the spike in progesterone after ovulation
Pp who said "I agree" you mean you agree that it's odd that symptoms from pio would be only after transfer like 9dpo etc instead of right when you start the PIO? |
