Stock portfolios and home values are at record highs.

Absolutely nothing is changing when middle-aged and old people feel wealthy.

Ag secretary confirming 1 in 4 US farmers has no fertilizer secured, American Farm Bureau survey says up to 70% can’t afford enough fertilizer for the season under the spiked costs

Honestly shocked this isn’t bigger news. 25% of farms are just not planting at all this season. Farm bankruptcy up 46%

Imagine what this does for the national and global food supply.

There is so much bad news it’s hard to focus. Undoubtedly there is a lot of lobbying going on behind the scenes. Big ag will be fine. In fact this is an opportunity for big ag to pick up more land and wait for better times.

JD, is that you signing in? Not surprising you don’t give a whit about the small farmers out there.

Since farmers keep voting for Trump they get what they get and they shouldn’t get upset.

“Fertilizer shortages caused by the Iran war have driven up costs for UK farmers by up to 70% and will have a “dramatic” impact on food prices globally next year, according to one of Britain’s most powerful property and farming companies.”

Dramatic. Globally.

You’d think that they’d understand how inflation works. A 10% increase in equity values don’t mean much when you are paying 20% more for everything else and without any adjustment in salary or social security.

Then why do middle-aged and old people, who vote disproportionately more in special elections, keep overwhelmingly voting for Democrats when given the chance?

Huh? Older skews conservative. Still true today.

BS. Those fists just get tighter. I've seen it. They get some money and they get mean and selfish and obsessed with keeping "what's theirs".

Lived experience...LOL.

We do understand and are scared. My teaching pension is capped for inflation at 3% per year. It has already been degraded and will be terribly degraded if this inflation keeps up (which seems likely). Middle aged and old people do not "feel wealthy". Maybe a few are wealthy, but the vast majority of retirees are not. As someone else mentioned, taxes and insurance are through the roof. Retirees have no control over those costs (as well as food and basic house/car maintenance). Believe me, we do not "feel wealthy". We feel afraid.

Also older people may be more conservative, but conservative does not mean they are in favor of spending money on wars and ballrooms. Nor are they in favor of corruption.

Conservative is not MAGA. There is nothing conservative about the current GOP.

Amid a federal Republican trifecta and while Republicans have had total control of Florida’s state government for thirty years, current Senator and former governor Rick Scott has concerns.
