Kate's New Picture

And she would know this is how things would ultimately go. So what's the issue?

Huh, you are right.

He used the letterhead in Sept 2022. Now you can shut up about that.

Well he wants something, and Kate is playing hardball about it.

When Kate is back in action most of the people in this thread will be seen as absolute loons.

There is no issue.

Why are there conspiracy theories about this?

People have medical issues. They get surgery. They probably don't look their best for awhile afterwards.

What am I missing?

This has already been buried!

Can someone explain to me what people are speculating about? I really don't get it.

Cool, so it's exactly what I thought. Woman had surgery, is recovering from surgery, edited a photo of her so she'd look better.
Nothing to see here.

Agree. But the speculation is wildly entertaining.

I think this is the core of what's happening right now. It would perfectly explain the communications meltdown happening in KP over the past few weeks + the changing tone toward Catherine in the UK media.

Everything else - Rose Hanbury/cheating, DV, pregnancy/abortion, school choice for George, comas - are unverifiable rumors or silly conspiracy theories. I wish this thread would stay away from this crap, it's dumb noise.

The core issue is that the marriage is on the verge of complete breakdown and Catherine is on the outs. And this is absolutely within the realm of possibility in the highly dysfunctional Windsor family. The Palace was similarly dysfunctional when Diana and Charles were breaking down.

If William does divorce Catherine, I will feel bad for little George - no one will want to marry him. What woman would possibly sign up to be the 3rd generation jilted wife of the future monarch?

I don't have a theory on the reason why or who pulled the plug first but I do agree this is likely the case. it makes sense the boiling point happened around Christmas, she may have gotten sick from the stress, then decided she wasn't working with them anymore.

Catherine does not have an incentive to pull the plug on the marriage. She was built for this and would do what it takes to make it work, especially for the kids. A divorce means she loses a lot of control when it comes to the kids' future, their education, how they are raised, who they associate with, day-to-day living, etc. And, of course, there is the issue of how Catherine provides for herself and security as a commoner. No way in hell Catherine is pushing for a divorce; the math doesn't add up.

The only person incentivized to divorce is William - if he's unhappy, if there's someone else, or just simply is having a petty midlife crisis and wants to be rid of Catherine. And he has to do it before he becomes King. He can't divorce Catherine once she's the Queen, not gonna happen. Charles's cancer speeds up the timeline of William taking over the crown.

My suspicion is that Charles got the bad news about the cancer late last year and William decided to pull the trigger on divorce around the holidays. The dominos then start falling with the December 28 medical incident, the January surgery and hospitalization, etc.

All of this makes sense and, of course, everyone - the BRF, KP, the Middletons, Harry & Meghan, friends, and even the UK media - has gone radio silent because they can't confirm anything without Catherine playing ball. William/KP are now stuck with putting out increasingly frantic statements on their own, without Catherine's participation or authorization. All because she does not want to divorce.

Why would William want to divorce Kate?

To clarify, open for him, not for Kate.

But doesn’t he already have that? What is Kate’s recourse if he went down that road? She has no other career, her parents are broke, and she would have very little control over her children if he pulled the plug.

I get that the BRF have the "never explain" thing (though it seems they aren't exactly following it here), but what about her family of "regular" people?

They would be ridiculed. Harry Styles' mother came out to support him when he shaved his head, and even that minor topic caused a commotion. I think she got a talking to from her kids because she's not even commenting on having a new grandkid.

Or, their measured response will, over time, win people over to them. (It worked for Charles and for Camilla. It took decades but it worked.)

It all depends on what happens in the next few weeks or months. I hope Kate recovers, after Easter or July or however long she needs.

It only worked for Charles and Camilla because QEII made it happen through her gestures and gave permission for others to accept their relationship. Without QEII's reservoir of public goodwill, Camilla would never be the Queen. Same thing if Diana were still alive, I don't think QEII would have allowed Camilla and Charles to marry.

With the caveat that I’m an anti-monarchist (as much as a non-Brit can be)…

This theory is one of the two that make sense to me. She’s deliberately not cooperating with whatever messaging KP is trying to make, as it’s her only leverage. And she knows she needs leverage or she’ll get screwed on accessing and influencing her kids - the only reason Diana is seen with sympathy is because she died dramatically and tragically.

I also understand why William would want a divorce, but I also don’t understand how he could be stupid enough to think it would be at all good for his image and popularity. But I might be underestimating his stupidity and ego…

The other theory that makes the most sense to me is that there isn’t anything more nefarious than usual (he’s a jerk, she’s a vain PITA), but they are so clueless, self-centered, and egotistical that they actually believe the whole “anointed by god” thing and can’t fathom how this looks bad for them.

To marry Rose, duh! William knows that will endear him to the British Public forever.

Exactly. Or even if she was really sick.

She is not and the British press knows.
