What are some up and coming schools in the area? Since their isn't a shot at the popular ones, where can someone land with hopes of it turning around?

Not sure I would say it that way if you do "land" there - In most of those schools faculty, staff and parents are already working hard to progress.

Do you mean by moving there? I would not count on getting in anywhere in the lottery anymore, too many kids in the pool across the city.

See the "apathetic" etc recent threads for what to say and not to say. "Turn around" not so much....

I'm assuming the OP means schools that are underrated/less known therefore easier to get into.

Thomson has always had a reasonable chance of being a successful school. It was never a disaster, but it was in a static space. Frankly what Thomson needs is a good neighborhood community center that could provide family supports. The parents there want to help their kids, but they need help.

Excellent parent programs in place, including English language class for parents, Zumba, computer seminars, class level dialogues and school wide parent meetings
