Capital 2025 ended #4 (not #1) so there were better teams out there. Pride is currently #8 - with the majority of Cap Blue 28 likely to be Pride, and select additions from Stars LB, no reason to think Capital 28 Blue won’t be in the ballpark.

Everyone is assuming all of Pride just moves on to Capital. What if some of those players stay at Pride or look to other clubs?

The Capital 25 class is much more talented than the 28 class, parents need to see that.

Probably few people on this 2028 forum have ever seen the 2025s play, nor can they see into the future. You sound very knowledgeable about the past and future, so I will defer to you on this.

You are ASSuming that other clubs won’t improve and that Capital will magically gel. Bottom line is the coaching historically is mid-level and won’t get them raise their game. History says they are going to be what they are going in, probably between the #7-12 best team in 2028s. Again, good enough to get recruited but don’t fool yourself thinking that the team is going to be all that.

Well if history says they are going to be what they are going on, let's look at the rankings of a couple of the feeder teams of the 2025s when they were in 8th grade:

Pride Red #13
Stars #38

CLC Blue 2025 is currently #4, which is way better than they were going in. What would history have to say about that?

History says to say Hi to 2026 and 2027 Blue when you drop your kid off for 2028 Orange….

History says they won't be at the same location at the same time almost ever.

With all respect, how do you know? What objective, fixed barometer of talent are you using, with perfect recall, to compare the 2025s as rising 9th graders to the 2028s.

I have seen about 3/4ths of the 2025 class play--not as a unit--but through their high school teams and they really are an outstanding group. No question. The recruiting results and play as team support that. And high school juniors/rising seniors certainly look and play differently than 8th graders/rising 9th.

That said, if you aren't using a comparative ranking, assuming that overall, comparing against other good clubs nationally is a sensible approach, how are you confidently stating that one class is "much more talented". Eye test? Remembering roughly what the 2025s looked like a few years ago, assuming you have been around the DC-area clubs for this time (older daughter?)? If so, those approaches are pretty subjective.

In my view, while the 2028s might not have a big group of 5'8"+ girls who all look the part (see eg Eagle Stix or Hero's), from what I've seen, they have some awesome athletes, stick skills, toughness on D, and creativity and finishing capability around the goal. Who knows how they will develop?

As for your "parents need to see that" instruction, honestly, I don't, and I'm not sure how anyone could yet. Let's check back around this time in 2027 and we will know.

There’s a lot of talk that this year’s NBA draft is a weak class. Maybe that means a few trades that wouldn’t normally happen to get out of selecting someone.

Women’s Lax isn’t that sophisticated. I bet they all still take the same number of kids they would have taken, regardless of strength of class.

If I am wrong, I will see you on the fields in 2027. If I am right, you won't see me as we won't be in the same divisions most weeks....

Of the 12 pride starters, how many are not trying out for Capital?

FWIW, the rankings have not been updated since 6/21. I would expect the next update to be posted on Friday 6/28.

Probably zero. Would guess almost all would try out.

I have not crunched the numbers, but Cap Blue 2025 has two weekends of games not reflected in their current #4. I would guess they are #3 when the new rankings come out. Pride Red 2028 will be #8 (I have crunched those numbers).

Pretty businesslike and professional. Players seem to know the drill. Solid energy; engaged coaches.

Lots of 27s, including players on Capital currently, which was interesting.
