+1 Kelly didn't deny that Trump said something thoughtless-it's hardly the first time that happened. He just is upset it became public. |
GWB's ethics chief came out today and said that Trump "has no understanding of human emotions." Oof.

Not in those exact words, but the meaning was the same: "Your son chose to sign up....WANTED to defend his country.....and died surrounded by his best friends, and doing exactly what he wanted to do." In the meantime, all this is a diversionary tactic to hide the successful operation in Syria. (And imagine how much worse the widow feels, with the Congresswoman creating a circus around this. FOR SHAME!!) |
Actually, considering the depths of the Great Recession, the comeback was tepid. The growth would have been much better had Obama not instituted an anti-business environment. |
Notice that it was Kelly who spoke so eloquently and emotionally, and not Trump. How hard would it have been for Trump to say simply, "I really am grieved that this hero's widow felt any pain from my phone call and I want her to know how much we value her husband's and her sacrifice." I guess we all know the answer: too hard. As Richard Painter just said, Trump has "no empathy." |
+1. S&P 500 is on a long roll that started shortly after Obama took office. |
Np. I support economic growth. In 2012, corporate profits (before- and after-tax) as a share of national income were at a postwar high. Corporate profits were relatively high throughout the late 1940s and 1950s, and fell throughout the 1960s and 1970s to reach a low in 1982. Since then, corporate profits reversed course and have generally been rising to their current postwar high. The top statutory corporate tax rate has been falling since the early 1950s. The top corporate tax rate was 52 percent throughout the Eisenhower administration—17 percentage points higher than the current top rate of 35 percent. U.S. GDP grew by almost 4 percent annually in the 1950s compared with a 1.8 percent growth rate in the 2000s. So, it would appear that more robust economic growth is associated with higher corporate tax rates. I see a much worse recession than the one we had with the Regan tax cuts. |
Oh, please. He took over when it was in the toilet. Of course it would go up. The fact is it recovered much more slowly than history tells us to expect, and that's because of his socialist liberal policies. The market went up not because of Obama, but DESPITE him. |
And if Trump had said those words in that way, maybe he wouldn't have made a widow who was 6 months pregnant cry. He's not good at empathy and should stop doing these calls. |
So Trump went against Kelly's advice not to contact the families, apparently to make himself look better by one-upping Obama and past presidents. And it blew up in his face. It's all about his ego. |
She's clearly using a private conversation with a grieving family for her own political ends. |
The family clearly supports what she did. The mother has spoken out. I would lay money down that the family would have spoken up about their negative experience with the president regardless of what the congresswoman did. |
First people were mad that he wasn't doing the calls. Now they're mad that he is. I don't like the guy, but it's clear the press and the establishment has an anti-Trump agenda. How often have we heard about Trump not promptly fulfilling his promise to give $25k to a gold star family? Yet, when Obama promised money to the family of an American killed by ISIS and subsequently forgot to pay up, it was barely a blip on the radar. http://abcnews.go.com/amp/International/us-hostage-kayla-muellers-foundation-finally-receives-obama/story?id=43215918 |
So...now it is the Congresswoman's fault that he is a bumbling ass? Man you guys are so far up Trump's rear-end, it is amazing. He may have meant well but he fumbled it. Just admit that and move on. Stop trying to gaslight folks into thinking that he is the correct one and everyone else got it wrong. |
I am old enough to remember Patricia Smith politicizing Benghazi at the RNC in 2016. Really, get off your high horse, TRUMP POLITICIZED IT. |
