Still encourage people to email the BOE!

So what will they be considering? Or do you mean that they will post it when they have it.

I don't actually know what they are considering. But the replies I got from the BOE staffer was that they are reading all emails and taking them into consideration. So if you haven't written, DO IT NOW!!

I don't think they have a final draft of the new calendar that they are ready or willing to share. As others have said, maybe tomorrow. Possibly later today since this meeting is for Monday PM and not Tuesday AM.

It was on the Bethesda Elementary listserv according to the Bethesda Beat Article, but I don't think many of my neighbors are tuned in to this issue with the holidays.

Monday? A meeting solely to discuss the calendar? How much does that cost the tax payers?

They must have a calendar in place by the end of the month. Waiting until January isn't an option.

I can't imagine this meeting will cost any significant amount of money.

It cost 5 million just to get options for a new school bell time. And 7 million to implement it.

Agree that January would be ridiculous.

The Board of Education will meet on Monday, December 14, at 2:30 p.m. to discuss the 2016-2017 school year calendar. The meeting will be live online and on MCPS TV (Comcast Ch. 34, Verizon 36).

Please spread the word to everyone to get there comments/concerns into the BOE before the meeting. Realize it is a busy time of year for everyone but spend a few minutes and get your e-mail submitted.

I thought the whole reason behind the 20 minute shift was that it involved no costs..

It would be nice to know what version of the calendar they will be considering.

Costs associated with the bell times was related to all that "research" and focus groups, etc. The original poster here seemed to be saying a meeting to solely discuss the taxpayers was going to cost money.

How did implementation cost anything? One reason the 20 minute shift passed was that it was a near $0 cost option. As I recall, the extra 10 minutes for the paraeducators was not supposed to impact the budget. (But 10 minutes for the teachers would have impacted the budget.)

Still nothing online with a new draft calendar.

Finally, they have posted the new calendar.

Looks like the the teacher union conference is gone.

Back to Aug 29 start?

Yes, back to 8/29 start and the last day on a Friday (6/16 ish).

But 10/21 is gone.

I suggested to them to get rid of 10/21!
