Gas is up

Anonymous
Our utility has sent out email saying temporary surcharge of over 10% for natural gas starting April 1.
This is on top an 11% increase in rates they got in January (although it had been instituted temporarily a year before and they were asking for 19%)

I just paid $3.85 a gallon. Last time it was this expensive it didn't hurt as much because I was working from home back then. Thanks, Elon!

I’m willing to pay a bit more for gas if it means watching Israel get hammered like this every night. As zionists love to say "FAFO"

That is low estimate.

Saudi Arabia Sees a Spike to $180 Oil if Energy Shock Persists Past April
Prices at such a level could trigger a recession or consumer changes that crush demand

Doesn't seem unlikely either. That puts the average price of gas over $6.

Honestly, good. Americans do not have a god given right to cheap gas. Now they have to pay as much as everyone else in the world. I am happy all those idiots in their F150s and Doge Rams in red states are going to get bent over the barrel and reamed for years, multiple times per week because they have to fill up their dumb gas guzzlers.

The only way Americans ever change their habits is because of price. Maybe this ks finally whay gets us to become more competitive in the EV space.

EVs are just as dumb as gas guzzlers. We just become dependent on China instead of the Middle East.

We need to rethink the whole live 30 miles from work and drive there by yourself in a 4,000 pound SUV to click on a keyboard model. EVs don’t make the model any less dumb.

That makes no sense. The Chinese sell EVs and solar. Once you buy either an EV or solar it is yours for the next 20 years. Next day you are not buying natural gas and oil to burn. You are not dependent on buying fuel.

This is a big selling point for the Chinese. You can buy a solar farm or a coal fire/natural gas plant. The solar cost less to build and can be built in 1/2 the time. Once it’s built the cost of operating is basically free.

The big thing for the developing world is the capital cost is less to for solar vs coal, natural gas, etc. Capital cost in the developing world are huge considerations.

Show me a functioning 20 year old EV.

That golf cart Trump drives around in. EV out last gas car by 8 plus years.

I love this. I don’t mind the extra gas costs if it means the red states pay more with lower costs of living!

Difference is I didn’t vote for this, so not really FAFO at all… this is what you call the silver lining.

Hopefully gas goes to 10 dollars a gallon

Get on a bike and maybe stop fighting bike lanes

Trump is the greenest president ever. We’re gettin a defacto carbon tax under him. Amazing

This certainly shows why the Republican obsession with oil and anti renewables is a National Security issue. Making your economy dependent in a commodity that can be controlled makes you vulnerable.

Trump could push American gas prices down immediately by banning oil exports. But he won’t do that because his oil and gas buddies are making bank at our expense. Bet he’s getting some kickbacks from them too.

Can't he just buy the extra and use it to replenish the strategic petroleum reserve?

That would increase prices not decrease them.
