I didn’t expect it to be so moving and to have such a strong hold on me. I keep thinking about these characters and scenes…

I can't imagine the public backlash if middle aged men were out in public, screaming, crying, and reaching and trying to grab at some 20 something year old women.

I think it is embarrassing for women of any age (beyond adolescence) but for middle aged women - get it together.

What’s wrong is that these women aren’t getting what they need at home. Women need to speak up and tell their partners what they need! If they can’t talk about it, have their partner watch the show and learn what they want.

I mean that is like men showing their wives porn to let them know what they want and need at home. Men aren't women and women aren't men. Harlequin romances are made for women with all the characters acting in ways women want and porn is made for men with all the characters acting in ways that men want - neither are realistic or real life. Wanting your husband to be like a Harlequin romance novel character is like wanting your wife to be like a porn star.

This has to be one of the stupidest things I’ve ever read. What are the HR guys doing that is so unachievable for a husband?

Porn is also achievable for women, they just don’t want to do it. And if you think a real life marriage and men are the same as Harlequin romances and romantic movies…no wonder marriages fail! They are fantasies - that’s why they are popular. Real life isn’t a fantasy.

I was surprised by how many middle aged women find 18-25 year old men to be their sexual and romantic fantasy. They are really into the bodies and lusting after these young guys.

I have two nephews that age who play hockey so it kind of creeps me out. Can’t imagine being so attracted and sexually turned on and wanting a romantic relationship with kids their age.

Why is this so surprising? Ever notice middle aged men going after young women? Why would middle aged women be any different?

Rachel’s writing is bad and so is her portrayal of hockey and autism. The jury is still out on the gay aspect

What is the fantasy here? Having a guy who knows how to kiss well? Who listens to you and is nice to you? Who sends you flirty texts? These are basic things. If your husband can’t achieve any of this, you really should be divorcing, because you deserve better.

Mostly because many middle aged women cluck their tongues and criticize men for doing the same. They don’t seem to think that men sexually objectifying and fantasizing about their daughter’s friends and cohort is a good thing. But I guess deep down everyone really is all the same.

I love the way Moonlight Sonata plays when Ilya does his Russian monologue. I remember watching Gordeeva & Grinkov skate to that music at the 1994 Olympics, so weirdly I always think of that music as Russian even though it isn’t.

As she said she was writing Harlequin romance novel hockey smut. She didn’t expect it to be analyzed like the Great Gatsby! She said she wrote Shane as an anxious perfectionist. It’s the TikTok crowd that decided he was autistic. And the hockey is just passable but not realistic! The gays seem happy to have a big hit that centers them but they are way more into Scott / Kip storyline than Shane / Ilya.

The musical score was great. Very original and varied. I watched some BTS about the videography too. So many of the creative elements were really well done.

I love watching Shane’s dad during the dinner scene when Shane comes out to his parents. He’s the first to notice Shane freaking out.

I wonder how he came to be cast in the show do this small part in a Canadian show that wasn’t expected to be much of anything? He has a pretty solid acting resume and this would have paid peanuts.

Some money is better than no money.

They don't have to be your own sexual or romantic fantasy in order to love watching their relationship. Do you apply that criteria to everything you watch? You have to want to live whatever you're watching in order to love it?
