Clemson- good support, no merit
Michigan State- unsure, 15000 merit
Indiana- unsure, 8000 merit
Ohio State- decent services, no merit
Miami of Ohio- good support, 24000 merit
Arizona- top support (SALT), 20000 merit
Penn State- unsure, no merit
Towson- good support, in state, 3000 merit

Miami of Ohio. Good business program, good support, good merit aid, and way closer than Arizona. Gorgeous campus too.

UPitt-Honors College with merits
VT ROTC (in state)
UMass with merits
Oberlin- honors college with merits

Waitlist:
Case Western with merits
BC

CMU

Also have guaranteed transfer at BU

Money is not a deciding factor. Kid wants to do medical research as a career goal.

Bump

Oberlin has no honors college.

OP here. Oberlin gives my kid a merit scholarship for a honor program. Not sure if that is the same as the honors college. May be not?!

Great choices! If cost isn’t a consideration, I’d probably go Delaware or Ohio State for this.

Male. Govt/history/politics/IR-related. In-state VA. Doesn't qualify for any aid. Willing to pay if a distinct advantage over other options.

Gotta visit - too many good choices (don't overlook WM, it's a strong contender)

Thanks! All strong contenders so it's tough. Is doing admitted events, Monroe weekend, etc. at WM, UVA and Georgetown very soon. I think BC is out since so expensive and no conferred advantage-though love it and a lot of relatives are alum. GW out- didn't offer any merit. I don't know enough about Pomona yet- but with major DC area or Ivy seems more critical.

Would never choose GWU over Georgetown.

UVA, W&M and Georgetown all great options. Choose best environment for your kid.

Columbia or Emory. There are tons of people who have never even heard of Rice (outside of Houston, people in academia and parents/kids on the college search).
I'm not kidding.

You have to ask? Columbia even if you are driving an uber to pay for it.

$$ not a factor

Really, $ doesn't matter at all?

Syracuse is so pricey for a liberal arts degree. Makes me lean toward Michigan State, which has comparable school spirit. But I don't know the actual sticker price. All three are good.

MSU Psychology is top notch.

No way you should go to BU--hard graders, cut throat competitive.

undecided--probably social science--major, no financial aid

Duke

Penn is Wharton and a little bit of engineering. No one thinks about the social science majors. And applications to Brown declined this year. Fair or not, it has a rep for rich kids floating through their self-guided curriculums while languishing in a mediocre city. Duke is more lively and varied and is generally good at everything. Plus more school spirit and better weather.

Totally agree!

Penn is a bit miserable. Go enjoy Duke!

You have got to be kidding. Penn is the Social Ivy. For example, next weekend both Iggy Azalea and Gente de Zona will be performing on campus.

If you’re in state for Va, I’d also consider JMU for its strong kinesiology program, and Vcu for its great health care majors and hospital access. Also, costs.

Air Force ROTC hssp type 1. Tuition/fees covered at any school.

Please suggest where my kid will enjoy/learn gain most from the college experience. Thanks!

Not only is, Virginia Tech a great engineering school, but it's hard to beat the experience of being in a corps of cadets rather than just doing regular ROTC
