The line between top orange and lower blue is thin. Yes it hurts orange players to be orange instead of blue. That said top orange fair no worse than say Pride black. Where orange is really at a disadvantage is that placement of blue players is a priority. So although the talent can be similar, the club prioritizes blue players with colleges sometimes to the detriment of orange. Before and after the sept 1 date, the recruitment is tightly controlled. The mantra “family” applies mostly to blue players; The club will go out on a limb for blue but not orange. I’d recommend top orange players think about a recruitment coach |
If your daughther who is on Capital Orange, goes to the same off season clinics as other orange and blue players-- lets say UVA, UNC and Princeton.-- and go without a label or club pinney. The girls have equal opportunities to show their abilities in front of the coaching staffs. The skill set, athleticism, speed, IQ of all the girls from all over the country. are on display equally. The coaches are going to identify the top talent and evaluate which players are the best fit. Going on the assumption that your daughter attended several winter and summer camps-- lf the coach likes a player.... they will express interest in them and probably recruit them. The best players will be picked up first-- it's what the college coaches do. If they don't get all of the players on their Tier one list, then they move to the Tier Two players, etc, until they fill their recruiting class. It happens in every sport. |

That is a naive comment.
Regardless of skill, players have labels. Colleges care about labels. On top Of that when a club pushes/ advocates for certain players or holds back recommending players because they are supporting other candidates’ interest in a college, the outcomes for the players whose names are being held back are undeniably negatively impacted. |
The girls when attending camps all Have labels. Equal opportunity is not a thing. |
| Capital Blue to VT! |
Then your kid needs to spend more time developing her stick sskills, and get faster,, and quicker' and grow taller. Oh-- and be more aggressive and coachable. My point is... if a player shows well, hustles and out-competes an A team player-- coaches will notice. Yes... even an Orange player can do it!! |
Well gosh... CALL the coach of the school that you want your daughter to attend and TELL THEM THIS!! They need to know it is like splitting hairs between Orange and Blue players. You could be the other recruiting director exclusively for Team Orange. |
| Camps and clinics are only one way players are scouted. A lot is also taking place at tournaments, and this is where B team players are at a distinct disadvantage. Top school coaches routinely attend A team games and skip B team games. I’ve watched huge numbers of coaches leave the sidelines after a club’s A team game, even as same club’s B team is taking the field next. It may not matter for top of A and bottom of B, but it does put those “swing” players at top of B at a recruiting disadvantage to bottom of A, where skills are highly comparable. |
| You don’t ever want to be on a B team of a club unless you have no other options. Period |
| Yes, some schools do offer discounted tuition for exceptional players. No schools offer a free ride. |
Mmmm. Idk. How many commits from pride black (0)? How many commits from YJMA (1 or 2)? cap orange 3 so far and probably 3 more d1 and lots d3 |
First, agree with the above poster that no player walks into a college camp tabula rasa. Colleges do a lot of homework before girls show up to their camps. Our DD started with camps of schools that are a longshot for anyone looking to get recruited (Top Ivy, etc.). It felt a bit like her $300+ per day was a meal ticket for assistant coaches. As she moved down the food chain to NESCAC and quasi-NESCAC schools, things changed. She would walk on the field and the coaches knew her name and made a point to connect her with current players and coaches. Lots of parents spend lots of money taking their daughters to camps for schools where they are unlikely to play lacrosse. Second, Capital Orange did pretty well in 2024 recruiting. Not a comprehensive list, but commits include Berkeley, Hopkins, Army, Howard, Amherst (3), Gettysburg, Butler, Chicago, Campbell, Mercer. Lots of parents relieved to be doing only one college application this fall! |
Amazing how anonymous forums inspire such ignorant statements. Look at the list of 24 Orange recruits and upcoming 25 announcements. Much success with many generous offers. Period. Go play on Pride Black or YJMA and see how your DD does. Maybe you will get an offer after President’s cup. Maybe. |

Congratulations to all of the M&D commits as well! Impressive list!

People who make the comments about B teams mean well and I think they are right for most programs. Just not Capital and possibly M&D. |
