Why is Biden extending the student loan repayment pause?

You can use gov scorecard to look up the median federal loan sums of former students at colleges and universities in the reddest county in your state or common wealth. Folks can try to astroturf fake talking points and fake cynicism, but every low and middle class, family in America, whether on the left or right, is negatively impacted by student loans. Most of my family are Conservative voters and they would love it if their kids, grandkids, young cousins, nieces and nephews got some relief from this debt, which prevents them from a prime car loan, mortgage, marriage, babies, and other phases of adulthood. This will be Joe and Jill Biden's legacy -- they will be heroes to 45 million Americans (or however many million qualify) and their extended families. And again, about half of those 45 million with debt don't even have a degree.

Well, if there is some student loan forgiveness he will have the appreciation and gratitude of those for whom he made life immeasurably better.

And all the Rs who have no problem with all the tax benefits for the very wealthy, etc will be just fine.

Loans should only be forgiven to those who contribute to the good of the community,e.g., teachers, medical professionals--but only those who volunteer time in free clinics and the same for lawyers--and there should be a monetary limit those making below $100,000. The loan forgiveness should also be on their credit history.
