Favorite buffet restaurants

Looking for some recommendations on kid-friendly buffets. Buffets work well with our small kids, because there's no waiting, and they can try lots of new foods. We are in Rockville, but we would love to try places throughout the DMV.

My rec is Todai in Fair Oaks Mall. Lots of fresh sushi, a great variety of other asian foods, and a nice dessert selection.

I-thai in Tysons was recommended in the recent ethnic foods tread, as were some Indian buffets.

Any other recs would be great. Thanks!

We love the weekend Indian buffet at Spice-Xing in Rockville Town Center.

I love Indian food and the buffets but I invariably feel uncomfortable after eating. It is not the amount of food but the fact that Indian food seems to produce a lot of gas and bloating. I think it is the salt and oil.

Weekday lunch buffet at Minerva (Indian) in Gaithersburg/Rockville (corner of 355 and Shady Grove Rd). I've also heard good things about the weekday lunch buffet at Ichiban (Sushi and Korean dishes I think) in Gaithersburg (near 355 and Mont Vil Ave intersection), but have not had lunch there.

Golden Corral in Hanover by Arundel Mills Mall. Go for the breakfast on the weekends or for lunch or dinner whenever. I know I'll get some flack for it but it's a good way to try a variety of foods and there is a lot to choose from. I've been to others in the area and it seems to be the cleanest and a high food turnover.

Tysons Chinese Buffet - Randolph Rd, Rockville

http://www.memsahibrestaurant.com/ - I almost don't want to tell anyone about this because I don't like overcrowding but I guess if I want them to stay open, they should get some business. It's in a hidden shopping center next to a Kosher mart. Lunch buffet only.

Any Indian Buffet is usually a good bet. The new Bethesda Curry Kitchen has a very good lunch buffet.

Ugh - I went there once and it was really awful. Most of it tasted like food service food from giant cans.
