Worrell is the defendant. The judge released him to receive treatment after the jail in DC failed inspection. Most of the 1/6 defendants are housed at another facility, and that one passed inspection. Worrnell’s fiancé said they were poisoning the inmates’ food and denying them 1A protections. I’m not sure what that means, but Worrell was denied necessary medical care, per the judge’s order.

Boohoo. He probably should not have participated in trying to overthrow an election.

Agree. As a diabetic, I know very well that going to jail is incredibly dangerous, and for many diabetics, crippling or fatal. That's not the main reason I don't commit crimes, but it's some additional encouragement.

If you're sick, don't go to jail. You'll get much worse there. This is common knowledge.

I’m sure if you were denied your insulin, you’d feel differently

Tell me that you are just as concerned about the young Black men rotting in prison over a joint or stolen backpack.

Tell me that you are just as concerned about people being held without due process and being abused by staff as you are about young black men rotting in prison over a joint or stolen backpack.
What 1/6er is being held without due process? Provide credible links and explain what you mean coherently.

What they mean is that they thought they were part of the protected in-group and they don’t like receiving the same treatment of an average criminal.

I remember a time long ago, about three weeks ago, when regressives on this board said that any kind of talk about criminal justice reform was permission to crime. By their own logic, this is how they want criminals to be treated, so what’s the problem here?

This was a problem with a prison that was not adhering to federal rules. The particular inmate in question was not singled out for different treatment because of his specific crime. There were multiple violations and abuses going on at this prison to many inmates being held for a variety of crimes.

This type of misdirection is inappropriate, but typical of MAGA types.

Other Jan 6 accused are being held in other facilities that are not violating regulations and they are not being abused.

Cute pp: “that’s not VALID”

PP here, he should never have been denied the medication, that was wrong and I’m glad it’s been remedied. The rest of the stuff the fiancée is babbling about??

I agree that he shouldn’t have been denied medication. It sounds like he’s doing better now that he’s home. His fiancé said they need lawyers. Why don’t they hire lawyers if they need them? That doesn’t make sense. Was the entire facility shut down, if they’re poisoning everyone’s food, or was she perhaps lying?

That prison is notorious for abuse. His income earning potential was destroyed and they can’t afford a lawyer. Furthermore, we know lawyers know their career and family are at risk if they dare take the case.

That’s BS and again, federal public defenders are excellent and free.

So maybe they should advocate for prison reform. They made it sound like it was an issue of him being singled out for being an insurrectionist, but you're saying it's a systemwide problem. If he's being treated like everyone else, maybe we need to raise the bar for how prisoners are treated.

I'm pretty sure if you can't afford a lawyer, you're assigned one. I'm not sure why they're unhappy with that. I guess they just want to suckle at the government teat instead of pulling themselves up by the bootstraps.

Also, he could consider committing less crime so his health and earning potential isn't further diminished. It's too bad he didn't think about consequences before he participated in crimes against the government (same government he's trying to get to solve his problems now).

People are denied medicine all the time, especially if early in the process. It happens. Jail/prison is not a hotel or hospital.

No one should be denied medical treatment, but let’s not pretend like it’s an emergency now that a white guy is on the losing end of this. Let’s reform our jail and prison systems!

The article claims the people involved with 1/6 were protestors. They were not protestors!!! They were mounting an insurrection. Get better sources. Again, if you can’t handle our criminal Justice system, which you feel works fine for others btw, then don’t commit a crime!!

Please tell me where it says they are denied counsel. It says the names should be made public.

Give me a break. These rioters have been afforded due process, and I’m not particularly sympathetic to their impatience when it comes to a trial.

So you’re saying you would support increasing federal funding and de-privatizing prisons in order to ensure all inmates get quality health care?

That’s what you pick up? I picked up the fact that there is widespread abuse in that prison, including - and especially of - the 1/6 prisoners. The crime in a lot of cases, are misdemeanors. If you think this is ok, you might be a tyrant. Due process has not been given to these people.
