Help. Affordable flights to Europe this summer?

Anonymous
We are supposed to go to Paris for the month of June for work. I cannot find a flight for less than $1500 per person. Help! Any suggestions? I've held off buying a ticket because I keep hoping prices will go down. There are 3 of us and it's more than we planned. Any ideas?

The prices will only go up. I paid $600 for Istanbul in January. I used to find flights under 500 to mainland Europe in April. That is a thing of the past now.

The taxes on the tickets seem so high - even using miles, the price is super high just because of taxes!

Prices are not going to go down at this point. It's never been cheap to fly to France in the summer.

You could look into Norwegian-- the new low cost int'l airline. I think they fly NYC-Paris (Orly) with a layover in Oslo.

Try Priceline if you're willing to riska stop or two or od hour flights etc. I'm planning a trip to London on October and have been watching flights allot lately. There are tracker websites that will email you when prices get to a certain point... I think airfare airfare watchdog is one.

I had a friend fly with them and have a horrible experience.

If you are willing to take an extremely long flight, through Istanbul, you can get them for $1000 each.

If it's work, what does your employer say?

I'd suggest seeing which European cities have cheap connections and fly elsewhere, then to Paris.

Bring a face mask for the smog. Good luck!

Is the pollution in Paris really that bad?

I'm looking at OneTravel for flights and am finding some cheaper flights, mainly through European airlines including ones I've never heard of. XLAirlines OK? FinnAir?

Yeah. They're instituting a driving ban for half of cars (based on license plate) every day now.
