The Gold's on Route 1 is pretty awesome. I drive from Springfield to go there. I've tried closer ones, but they've all sucked in comparison. And they're expanding soon to add a pool and other things. Childcare is $2 per kid for each visit. Or $25 per month (I have two kids. May be cheaper for one). The pay room is pretty damn big and I liked the providers. My kids love going there.

I go to Sport and Health. They have childcare but I don't use so can't give advice there. It's pricey. Definitely. But I pay it because it's a gym that I find myself going to nearly every single day. Not only because of the location to my house, but also because it's not crowded and has a wide selection of machines. And it's not a meat market. People of all ages and people are just doing their own thing. Friendly people. And I like that it's right next to the running trail so sometimes I combine a gym workout with an outside run.

Before this, I was a member of the Del Ray YMCA. It was nice, but during peak times, good luck at getting a machine. I haven't been into it since so I don't know if anything has changed. I really think that with all of the growth in Potomac Yard, they should be thinking about expanding.

The best value will probably be LA Fitness north of Potomac Yard. But it was JUST far enough away that I knew I wouldn't go as often. The other options are Snap Fitness on King St, but it's small and no childcare -- but cheap.

And there is Jungle's Gym by the USPTO which I know nothing about other than it's large and never crowded. But again, just inconvenient enough for me that I know I wouldn't go as much.

We use the childcare. For a little baby or very young toddler, I would not recommend just because of the ratios and mix of older children, but for an older toddler or preschooler, it is perfect. My son enjoys going and loves the people who watch the kids there.
