| Did you get in? |
|
No. I procrastinated on entering the lottery, and then got busy on that last day and forgot! Still considering trying to buy a bib from someone when the transfer program opens. That's how I got in for 2013.
Congratulations on getting in, OP!
Will this be your first marathon? |
|
I'm in! It's my first marathon and I'm having second doubts about my training plan. I've used Jeff Galloway and C25K in the past. Was going to use Jeff Galloway for this one but wondering if there's something better I should try.
What plan are you using, OP? |
|
From what I understand of Jeff Galloway, he advocates some type of "run 1 mile, then walk .1 mile" or something?
PLEASE if you used this method, walk on the right!. As a runner, nothing is more frustrating than when you are running behind someone and then they suddenly, without warning, come to a halt. The MCM is very crowded (last year, I was about 10 miles in before I finally felt like I was really able to run at the pace I wanted) and it is dangerous to have so much "stopping." Good Luck!

Thanks! Yes, his run/walk program is part of what confused me. I liked his program for the 10k, but am using it now for a half and don't really think its working for me. I see a lot of Hal Higdon advocates On this board so I'm thinking of trying his Novice 1 but would welcome recs from any experienced runners. Goal is just to finish. |
| Runner's world has a training program on their website that I used last year to run my 1st marathon (DC Rock n Roll). I managed to finish in 4:20, the last 6 miles were brutal. Nothing can prepare you for hitting the wall. |
| I'm a big Galloway fan (and yes, I always try to walk on the right and be aware of people around me). His motto is "Run Injury Free" and that has been true for me after many years of running. I've done everything from run 2 minutes walk 1 minute to run 1 mile walk 1 minute. |
