Do you allow your teens to watch TV MA rated shows such as American Horror Story and Weeds?

My teens (14 and 16 yo girls) have been binge watching these shows. I am totally against them watching and have set up parental controls on our Netflix account. My husband thinks I am over reacting, but I think the content on these shows goes too far and validate behaviors that are not appropriate for teens. Thoughts?

No way. Weeds has pretty graphic sex and very adult humor. I don't know what's in American Horror Story, but no way. Maybe at 17 but not 14.

My kids are 15 and 17. We actually watch American Horror Story together a lot. Good show! Scary and freakish.
I've never seen Weeds.
I dont get hung up on TV though. We watch a lot of shows on Netflix that sometimes get a little racy. I usually joke to my kids to close their eyes.
No biggie.

Nope! I wouldn't let them either

Nope. No True Detective. No Zombies. No family Guy either (All flatulence jokes). Parental controls on everything. We're into series watching of all the Star Trek movies and t.v. shows; the Doc Martin series (great for kids except for two episodes - didn't see that bondage scene coming, or Auntie on the kitchen table having sex with the young man). Sherlock Holmes is great.

I havent seen Weeds. Personally, I think American Horror Story is across the line. But my daughter (13) and I watch Walking Dead together and she's seen a few episodes of Justified.

If you think your girls are mature enough to handle it, they've probably seen and heard worse on the schoolbus.

I have seen Weeds an I wouldn't let my 14 year old watch that. And I'm pretty liberal with what he watches. I might let him watch at 16. Never seen American Horror Story so cant comment on that.

There is also at least one torture scene in weeds.

I can totally understand that you wouldn't want your kids watching those shows. I don't allow my 14 year old to do so either. However, I don't subscribe to the idea that just because kids watch something on TV that they get the idea that it's OK to do it in real life. I watched a lot of MASH as a child but never built a still, cheated on my husband with a co-worker or went with prostitutes.

Weeds was one of my favorite shows, but I consider it wildly inappropriate for teens! At the very least, it deserves a discussion of all of the poor choices that the characters made -- and there were A LOT of them.

I have parental controls on all rated R movies as well as MA for shows. My kid is 14. We watch a few shows but not much. We are movie watchers on the weekend and really no TV on weekdays besides a few game shows. A lot of her friends watch those ABC Family shows and they are just like 90210. She's not into them but I guess I would be okay with that if she was. But Weeds, AHS?? No way.
