| Things like Sophie, or the Winkle or all the other things that go in the mouth and fall in the floor all day long? |
|
If sophie falls on the floor at home we do not clean it. If she falls out in public we normally wipe it off with pacifier wipes - something like this http://www.amazon.com/Munchkin-Hammer-Pacifier-Wipes-White/dp/B004HM368U
|
| Once in a while I wash them all in the washing machine. Otherwise I just wipe them off it they are dirty. |
|
Plush stuffed animals/toys I toss in a pillowcase, knot it, and wash on the gentle cycle, then dry the same way in the dryer (you have to make sure they get all the way dry even in the middle because mold).
If something falls outside, I wipe it against my jeans before handing back. Maybe every 2 or 3 months I spray the playroom with Lysol at night. We don't have any plastic toys except some bath toys, and I toss some of them (like the ducks with the hole on the bottom) every couple of months because mold. |
If you have a hot glue gun, put a little bit of glue over the hole on the bottom when you buy them. It keeps water/ mold from getting inside so you dont have to toss them as often. ( I learned this after throwing out about 3 sets). they dont squirt anymore, but my kids never use them as squirters anyway so this works for us. |
|
we wipe hard toys and indestructibles down with a wet cloth or in the sink if they get dirty. Stuffed animals get spot cleaned if necessary.
If we're out, then I also use pacifier wipes or a wet napkin. |
| I don't wash toys. |
Me neither. |
| With DC #1, I cleaned every toy every Friday. With DC #2, I only cleaned what we dropped in public. With DC #3, I no longer clean toys. |
This is hilarious and perfect! |
|
Softie goes in our dishwasher at night,
Other big toys, once a year outside with a hose. |
| I don't do much, but my son puked in his bed tonight, so we're throwing a lot of his plush toys he sleeps with in the washer. Trying to spot clean and Simple Green some of the ones with batteries. If it doesn't work well, I'll toss them. |
| Only when they get visibly dirty. If ds wets the bed, wet stuffed animals go in the washing machine. If the baby spits up on her toys they get rinsed or wiped off. If bigger toys look dusty, I'll dust them - maybe. |
Dishwasher, washing machine, or throw away if cant be washed in either of the two.

With #1 I thought I should be cleaning toys but wasn't. With #2 I thought that I would really like more sleep. Both kids are very healthy.. |
