Trump 47 Economy

In the first situation, Biden was managing a situation created by others and therefore helping Americans. In the second situation, Trump is watching the fallout of a situation created by HIM. Trump is hurting Americans. It is pretty simple.

Are you better off now than you were four years ago?

It’s a yes or no question.

Not that PP, but I can answer...

No.

Mortgage rates are higher
Spouse lost a job for 7 months, finally found one but lower paying
During that time, stopped contributing to 401ks and 529s
Electricity bill much higher and larger portion of our take home than it used to be

Generally most people will "be in a better place" with time regardless. I was in a better place under Biden than I was with Trump's first term. But now, not in a better place, this year put us behind. I have also known more people laid off struggling to find jobs than any other time in my life. A friend was laid off from microsoft and ended up just going back to school to be a teacher.

Also I see Trump's actions and economic policies as having much longer depressive impacts on the economy. The impacts of the Iran war will be much longer lasting than inflation impacts under Biden. Trump is not creating jobs including manufacturing jobs. His tariff policies are bad for US consumers and US companies. H has no concerns for the ramifications of going all in with AI with regard to widespread layoffs, the impact of data centers on our outdated energy grid and individual electricity costs, and more.

To ask someone if they are better off than 4 years ago is a ridiculous question. People generally accrue money and earn more with time. I was better off and had a higher 401k (including all time highs every single year) under Biden than under Trump's first term. It is a disingenuous way of trying to distract from bad, and depressive, economic policy. I suspect you know this and are potentially even a paid astroturfer, honestly.

I also think Trump doesn't care that he's hurting Americans.

He doesn't think he is. He is surrounded by yes men. And a small number of yes women.

He thinks he has the best poll numbers he has ever had.

He has a personality disorder. He thinks everything he does is great.

Your words indicate you are better off, and better positioned to weather the economic headwinds.

What’s the delta between your 401k four years ago and today? I bet you’re better off.

I posted earlier that I was also better off under Biden than Trump's first term with a new high to my 401k every year. I also posted ow this is a disingenuous question distracting from Trump's poor long term economic strategies. I also posted that I think you are likely a paid astroturfer. Your selective responses here seem to confirm that.

Think of how much higher the DOW/401k's would be if the US was still growing at 3%+ GDP and didn't have the tariff uncertainty and Iran war. The opportunity costs Trump is costing your precious investor class is overwhelming.

Odd that the only response you can muster to anything about Trump's abysmal economic strategies is "you're better off so stop whining!!!"

Yes was also better off under Biden than Trump's first term and my 401k has had new highs every year I have ever had a 401k throughout both presidencies. I will continue to point out that this is a stupid argument while you ignore every other point made and all other data.

My portfolio is over performing in this environment.

People here seem to forget 1/3/22 - 12/12/23 when the Dow stayed below 36,452 for 618 days.

Yes, because of the economic recovery needed post COVID.

You all keep memory-holing the worst pandemic in a century and ignore the broken supply chains and worldwide recovery, of which, the US was the best in the world. Do you think other economies were better than the US during and after COVID?

Trump has barely created any jobs. We are bleeding manufacturing jobs and tariffs are making things worse. Inflation remains elevated under Trump vs Biden's last year. Energy prices are higher than ever. Even during those 618 days, I still gained in my 401k and achieved new highs.

But ok.

Factor in inflation and the devalued dollar, and your portfolio is not over performing.
