| Hi-We are going to Ocean City New Jersey this summer. They have a wonderful boardwalk. The rub is that we have a five year old and I know I know too old for a stroller but we are staying at the very end of the boardwalk and it's way too long to walk all the way back to go to the rides etc. I don't want to drive down as the parking is a bear and frankly it's a good walk for DH and I. Sooo I am wondering is it really bad to bring the Bob's stroller for our own sanity? Curious if anyone else has done this. I am not worried about our child going along with it--he is pretty easygoing. Thoughts? |
| I'd get a cheap jogger. |
| How much does he weigh? I'd borrow a stroller or backpack carrier from someone. You could also just pay one of those bicycle carriages to take you back to your hotel. |
| My five year old fell asleep in his little brothers Maclaren last summer on the boards. We carried the young toddler while his older brother slept in the stroller. |
| What about a little wagon? |
| Bring your stroller. NBD to see kids 5 -7 in a stroller on the boards. Lots of families will have kids that age hopping in and out along the way. The kids are tired after sun, sand , and swimming. |
+1 We have the radio flyer all terrain wagon and it's great for carrying beach gear on the sand, or pulling tired kids home. We also take it to the pool (about a mile away). Love this wagon. |
| What about the trolley on the boardwalk? |
| No trolley in OC. That is wildwood. |
| sure, bring your BOB if you want to. or borrow buy a light weight simple stroller to just get the job done and maybe make it easer on yourself so you don't have the heavy BOB to manage with? |
Pushing a stroller is much easier. |

Whatever. Do what is most comfortable to YOU. Stroller, wagon, those bikes YOU push… he is still not walking but it beats carrying a 5y old. Who cares what others think?
Personally, I would bring my child's scooter AND umbrella stroller. You can try the scooter in the first day and if he is very tired, he can put both feet up on the board and your pull the handle (I did that in Barcelona when my child was 3 and I miscalculated her stamina). If it gets tiring for you, pull the stroller for the second night forth. |
| How many miles is it? My four year old does a mile each way to the lib. without a peep. |
A 7 year old, really??? |
Not the OP, but NP who regularly bikes the length of the boardwalk in OC. It's five miles each way. |
