No silver lining

Dc waitlisted in 3 schools and rejected in one. Public not an option. Having a hard time staying positive

Same with us!

What grade are you looking at? Maybe some DCUM's might have some suggestions for you. I'm really sorry.

Just keep at it. Call, keep a spot on waitlists, look at some other schools you did not consider before. Good luck.

Definitely start calling around looking for spots elsewhere. Worse they can say is "no". We were WL only last march and did some scrambling. We ended up at a less exclusive school but one that we loved. And then there's always next year.

I'd start a new post to see what schools have rolling admissions or might have spots according to DCUMers

I'm sorry, OP, how stressful. Someday this will all be a blip in the rear view mirror.

OP, what grade are you looking for and in what area? There may be some hidden gems out there to consider.

So sorry, OP, but don't lose heart. There will be spots at some schools if you call around. Good luck to you.

OP - what grade and where do you live? There are some wonderful flying under the radar schools that very well may have spots. If you let folks know where you are looking I'm sure you'll get some great recs on here.

Aw, darn. Sorry, that's tough.

Same boat WL for all four schools and public not an option! Feeling really down

What are these really great under the radar gems?

Why is public not an option?

Well, for younger kids, we have friends who have kids at Mater Amoris - their situation was much like OPs and the top choice schools didn't work out. They have raved about Mater Amoris and put the second child at MA without applying to any of the "Bigs" they applied to for the first. I don't have firsthand experience with the school, but their kids have thrived there and given the commute they make to get there, I think it speaks well of the school. I would have said the same of Friends Community, but they have become very popular and are unlikely to have openings now unless it is for a kind of random non-entry grade I guess. Again, this all depends on the age of the child and location of the OP, but there are definitely some really good schools that don't get a high volume of posts on this forum. I'm sure other people on here know of others that are specific to the area the OP lives in and that might be good fits for OP's child. I think there was a thread on hidden gems once that might be worth a look too.

For elementary grades, check out Grace Episcopal in Kensington! An under the radar gem!
