I try to pack my lunch every day, I really do. But sometimes, for a variety of reasons, carrying lunch with me just doesn't work out, and I find myself staring at a drive-through menu while racing between appointments.
In these situations, what options are least likely to send my weight / cholesterol / blood sugar / blood pressure skyrocketing? I'm particularly interested in things that can be eaten on the go (salads are hard), but would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks! |
Google "eat this not that fast food"
No french fries or anything fried. get grilled options.
I love SweetGreen salads. Also you can find low-cal options at potbelly and subway (but many sandwiches are unhealthy).

Wraps?
I suspect that despite appearing "healthier", they still pack a lot of calories. http://www.chick-fil-a.com/Food/Menu-Detail/Grilled-Chicken-Cool-Wrap http://www.kfc.com/nutrition/pdf/kfc_nutrition.pdf |
Sometimes at McDonald's I'll get a hamburger happy meal. Satisfies a craving for bad fast food, but portion controlled. And you get a toy for your kid. The hamburger isn't that bad (250 Cal - I might take off the top bun).
Subway
Agree with the small hamburger (250 kcals). kids fries are 100 kcals.
Moe's?
chipotle or cava
pret a manger or pain quotidien also has healthy fast options for on the go

Chipotle bowl loaded with veggies and beans. If a bowl is too "messy," get a wrap but load it up with veggies (skip the cheese and sour cream).
|
Chipotle Salad w/chicken or beef. Skip the beans but add veggies, salsa and guac. Skip sour cream, cheeese and salad dressing.
Panda Express. Some sort of chicken with steamed vegetables
Honestly the happy meal is probably the least calories. The chipotle stuff although sounds healthy is huge and has tons of calories.
