I think the reason that Hillary's parents are being quiet is that he's an attorney and she's a doctor and they likely know better than to go off script. If H and A weren't consumed by panic they would have also kept their tweetholes shut.

How does this affect me? I watched my mother be ridiculed for having an accent my entire life. People acting like having a foreign accent makes you sexy or exotic is deeply insulting and belittles what my mother and other immigrants went through. I think people like this should be ashamed of themselves and this whole fiasco, while very funny, also makes me deeply angry. I am really tired of the various white people shenanigans of 2020.

I don't really agree with this. Hilaria didn't pretend to be of a different socioeconomic status than she really was. Literally all she pretended was that she was from a different country. I don't think it's surprising at all that a bored rich girl would pull that.

Alec was on Justin Long’s podcast in February and mocks the accent of Roberto Benigni after jumping over the seats at the Oscars. Said he sounded phony and his name is probably Jerry Cohen and is from NY/NJ. Then says if anybody did that they’d be sued....
This is around the 11:15 mark of the podcast.

He was then on Rob Lowe’s podcast in September and mimics his wife’s accent. Talks about her after the 9:00 mark and does the accent around 10:00.
