Does blending destory any of the nutrients in smoothies?

Especially if you use a high-powered blender

There is some discussion that high-powered blenders generate some heat which would be detrimental to vitamins etc. But I dont think this is significant.

It "digests" the fiber for you for the most part, but the vitamins are still there

This is a pretty wild claim. Citation please?

Perhaps, PP means that it breaks down some of the fiber.

So does chewing.

Blending the fiber particles smaller, thus producing more surface area for more absorption. I have no scientific basis for this, just common sense thinking. I have no idea how a blender can "digest" fiber, but OK.

Blending does not magically product digestive enzymes.

95% of digestion starts in the lower intestine. The mouth only starts the mechanical digestion process, so technically the blender does that for you. The chemical digestion process is where nutrient absorption happens. A blender does not impact chemical digestion.

A vitamix is not a uranium centrifuge, capable of splitting atoms.

Thank you thank you. I despair sometimes at some of these titles and then the smart people show up.
