MINI PREP. Never chop again.
Non-stick pans that are also dishwasher safe. Basically anything dishwasher safe. Silpat if you bake. We have these plastic cerrated knives from WS that are amazingly sharp and can also go into the dishwasher. |
Who are you? The thread police? You are always posting right after a topic. Who cares if it's been posted before? It's a useful thread and many of us don't have your photographic memory NOR the time to monitor every single thread as it appears you do. |
not to mention that the DCUM search function kind of sucks. |
OP here,I tried searching, but didn't really find anything other than a thread asking for cheap ideas for useful kitchen gadgets for christmas gifts.... |

Screw oven mitts and whatnot. Wedling gloves are where it's at. Mine are going on three+ years now and it so much better than anything else I've used:
http://www.amazon.com/US-Forge-403-18-Inch-Welding/dp/B00164QVI4/ref=pd_sxp_f_pt Sous Vide is awesome if you're really into cooking: http://www.sousvides.com/ Immersion blender: http://www.amazon.com/Cuisinart-CSB-76BC-SmartStick-200-Watt-Immersion/dp/B000EGA6QI Way better than any torch you can pickup at Williams Sonoma or similar. Seriously get this if you torch anything ever: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Bernzomatic-PK1001KC-Plumber-s-Kit-330981/203368715?N=5yc1vZbqmd And ice cream maker is always fun as well for impressing people at parties assuming you actually make a good custard base and a unique flavor This recipe has always been a hit: http://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2012/04/bi-rite-creamery-san-francisco-salted-caramel-ice-cream-recipe.html I really, really, really like cooking and gadgets are fun as hell. Those above are my favorites. |
2nd the jar opener! |
I have been using my immersion blender constantly recently - I use it to puree soups and sauces (my kids don't like tomato chunks in their spaghetti), and it is really amazing for getting lumps out of gravy. I have also been grabbing a using it to scramble eggs and to finely chip onion and garlic. The clean up is so much easier than a big blender, mixer, |

Enameled cast iron Dutch oven. It's too big to fit in our cabinets, so it sits on a burner 24/7. We use it for everything- it's the thing I couldn't live without.

Another vote for the stick blender. I love tomato soups, but hated making them. Now, they're so easy! Not obscure, but my fancy rice cooker and my slow cooker have made my life so much easier. |
