Gray Proposes Reallocation of $100MM of DCPS Capital Modernization Funds

Interesting to see who is benefiting and who is not.

Amidon got a modernization last year so I'm not sure what is being remodeled for phase 2.

West and Orr would definitely benefit from not being open class room model. It is not a very conducive design for learning.

What does that mean for DCI?

I thought DCI was a charter? Aren't charters responsible for their own facilities plans?
Anonymous
just another example of politics as usual.

Me too but the article makes it sound like DCI was expecting $ that got pulled.
Anonymous
The article doesn't explanation why any of these decisions were made.

by the way this is just a proposal, not a done deal. Write your Councilmember and the Mayor if you do not support these cuts.

The chart shows -$6,000,000 for DC Immersion. Not surprising. Gray promises buildings to some charters then pulls them now this.

But is this just for the current fiscal year? I think that there are plans for some of these schools to have a lot more work done the following year.

This "article" does a poor job of putting the numbers reported in context.

Does Ms. Brown research her articles? They always feel like blog posts.

Guess after spending millions of dollars on renovating schools that aren't even at 50% capacity like Dunbar, Roosevelt, etc. they are running out of money. DCPS at their best.

Gray is losing my vote for mayor right here.

Can we get Fenty back? Without Rhee maybe? Ideas?
