Chai Latte

Anonymous
I had a chai latte for the first time and now am hooked, but I liked the really spicy (hot) taste, not so much the sweet part. Where is the best place to get one and does anyone have a special recipe?

Get real chai from a good Indian restaurant. There are plenty of Indian chai recipes online.

I find the Tazo tea (carried by Starbucks) is more spicy than sweet, though it is still sweet.

I like the version you can buy from Teaism - it's just the tea leaves, so you sweeten to taste after you've steeped the leaves.

My favorite is Oregon Chai - Cosi serves it. But there is a regular version and a "slightly less sweet" version. However, it is not spicy. Mostly bland, actually, now that I think of it, but a nice warm cup is comforting.

You can make it yourself with chai from Upton Tea Imports - steep the chai mixture (it's a blend of black tea and spices) in very hot milk, sweeten to taste. So delicious - give it a try. http://www.uptontea.com/shopcart/catalog.asp?begin=0&categoryID=270

Cardamom, dried ginger, cloves, fennel seeds, black pepper. Seriously, why is it so difficult? Make your own tea spice blend. Add more or less of individual spices as per your taste (or eliminate some completely).

And for God sake call it just "Chai". That's what it means - tea.

I don't use ginger, do use cinnamon, boil with milk and sugar in. But I like it when our coffee shop makes it for me just fine.

You win an award for most over the top obnoxious response to an innocuous question.

OP I believe Firehook asks if you want your chai LATTE sweet or spicy. Delicious either way there!

Hello -How so?

Chai=tea Latte=with milk (no one puts espresso in it)

Indian chai is already always made with milk. Soooooo, chai latte or chai tea latte is redundant.
