OR MAYBE THE Ds should just wake up. Everything is not about race. Maybe it was for some people but the ones you lost in the middle were just hoping the Ds didn't close schools again. |

Which school was this? |
No school, because none of these anti-white fantasy incidents ever happened. |
Ooooh, maybe he can get Republican state legislators to send lists to school districts to see if their library has books the GOP doesn't like in it. https://www.texastribune.org/2021/10/26/texas-school-books-race-sexuality/ Who knew McAuliffe was right - parents won't have a say in their children's education, but single members of the House of Delegates can! Book banning has worked so well throughout history. I don't know why we haven't thought of it before. |
Certainly seems unlikely to have happened in a VA public school. If this had actually happened, we would have heard about it endlessly from the aggressive RWNJs on Twitter. The teacher would have received death threats, etc. |
This piece sums up how Youngkin won and demonstrates how it falls neatly into place with strategies used in recent American history: "Youngkin delivered fear with a smile."

I’m liberal, but can see much of the media is left of center, notably the NYtimes. The coverage from these outlets, like Wapo, won’t center on the average voters frustration with wokism, as it wouldn’t fit the narrative, but will most likely foist the blame on “racism”. I see the progressive wing is blaming losses on Washington not delivering on progressive promises soon enough, which is another take, which is probably partially true, but albeit mostly incorrect. Really most people are tired of the acceptability of bashing certain cultures. If democrats paid attention they’d shun ideological purity tests, stop pushing racism as an excuse for every ill, and focus on meat and potato everyday concerns. They won’t. The progressives already want to double down. So anyway, that’s life. |
I read that, and I thought - I am never reading a Charles Blow article again. He is claiming racism when he wasn't here on the ground. Yes - the R base is probably racist but the ones who cost us the election were the swing voters in the middle who literally just wanted the party more likely to keep kids in school regardless of whatever future variant comes our way. |
The swing voters swing because of “crt.” The opinion pieces demonstrates how many times these appeals to race have worked in America. |
"There are people who want to believe the fabrication because it justifies their fears about displacement, powerlessness and vulnerability." "So it’s no wonder Youngkin’s critical race theory lie worked. The parasite of white racial anxiety needed a new host, a fresher one." "You could argue that the Democrats made missteps in Virginia. Absolutely. But, to win, Democrats also needed to tamp down white people’s fears, which is like playing Whac-a-Mole. Some of the very same people who voted against Donald Trump because they were exhausted and embarrassed by him turned eagerly to Youngkin because he represented some of the same ideals, but behind a front of congeniality. Youngkin delivered fear with a smile." |
Hammers see nothing but nails everywhere. |
It's an op-ed. The NYT also had the conservative Douthat op-ed that has been posted multiple times already. |
I was the person who started this post thread and I just want to reiterate, at no point in my life have I ever voted for a Republican. It's just that from now on I also will never vote for a Democrat. Which, in America, means that I will not be voting for the remainder of my life. And that's fine with me. Whoever originally kept replying to me and accusing me of being a racist trump supporter has a low IQ. |
WTF? You need to take a seat already. Doubtful that CRT (the theory) is taught to school children. Whether CRT is used as the framework for constructing curricular activities, making choices about what materials are available to students, or selecting guests to speak to students or teachers though is moot as far as this thread goes. TMac lost. FWIW i recall being taught about gender stereotyping without anyone ever using that term or anything like it in the 70s/80s via filmstrips, books and records. The most popular one that I recall was Free to Be You and Me. I think Marlo Thomas was heavily involved in the project. I loved everything in the book and on the record which taught things like that it was OK for a boy to have doll or that women (or anyone) didnt necessarily like housecleaning despite all the happy looking women doing so on TV commercials (and it was always women seen cleaning on those commercials!). |
