What were you doing the moment you found out your child was accepted to an elite private school?

It's been 14 years and OP's kid must be in college by now. I wish OP would report back on how it all went.

Newer to DCUM, super glad people brought this into 2024, I’ve laughed all afternoon waiting in school pickup line!!!

Yes.

I got a phone call and when I didn’t react with glee fast enough for the director of admissions, she told me my kid would never get into college unless we accepted the offer.

I really wish I had told her no thanks, he wants to go to trade school, byyyye.

Going over all of the decisions I made to get to this idiotic point of anxiously awaiting answers from elite schools.

Isn't that the idea? At least, I hope so.

SO disturbing that some have ZERO sense of humor. Can't recognize Satire when it smacks them in the face!

It is disturbing. It’s Millennial. They take themselves way too seriously and have no sense of humor. Always exceptions of course, but as a group, they lack the self-awareness it takes to laugh at themselves. They are a nightmare to manage.

I’m a Millennial and I think it’s hilarious. Don’t paint with such a broad brush.

Taking copious notes about the admissions process so I can write my own roman a clef, but only after my kid has locked down their college choices.

Man, I'm going to dish it out to that frosty beyatch at the fancy pants school who was so unwelcoming during the interview. And the school with the white pillars that rejected my kid--I have words about their plantation look.

I'm relishing now the look on their faces when they read my book in 12 years.
