And at my workplace, like many others, people are asking questions of their employers and advocating for the safest possible environment Upon return to work. Teachers are allowed to do that too, and hey, it will protect kids and families as well.

Yeah, I don't get it either. Post after post after post on DCUM, hating on teachers and the horrible awful evil teachers' union, for things the teachers and teachers' union haven't actually done, but the posters read other people posting about it on DCUM...

But we're talking about going to the school to pick up your belongings, where everyone will be requested to be masked and they will stagger the times. Working alone in your classroom to me seems a lot "safer" than the grocery store.

I'm a fed and I've been in my office twice since "closing down", to retrieve hard copy files, pick up some supplies I'd need at home. We have to request a day and time. we're asked to wear a mask, and I hardly had any heartburn over it.

I am also sick of the teacher hate, but being surprised teachers won't even enter the building isn't hate, it's science. PP described folks signing up in shifts, and wearing PPE. There is no credible disease transmission model for COVID that makes that a risky behaviour.

Mine actually had a lot of construction workers, working on building and HVAC renovations. But if a teacher is assigned a time and date, will the school building be teeming with people?

For real. My children go to private school and their school furloughed teachers and gave us a refund for the remainder of the year. Which I honestly think is the right thing to do! Distance learning is not an equal education and parents are doing most of the work anyhow. I love that I have the extra money to purchase materials I find suitable and set of schedule. Teachers are still available with questions or if we need ideas or resources. We are getting a much better deal than our friends who are stuck with sub-par distance learning. I am hopeful they will start school on time since they are a business and they actually need to work to get paid!
