Interesting how Kevin Lewis' reporting at Sinclair-owned WJLA has changed from Montgomery County local news reporter to exclusively covering crimes committed by men with latin sounding names in Mont Co. Probably a coincidence, I'm sure.

I live in MoCo and I don’t really care who Lewis works for. Just glad that someone is covering these stories and bringing to light an issue that is affecting women in MoCo.

Sounds like he’s covering rapes against women. If those rapes are committed by men with ‘Latin sounding names’ (??? What does that even mean? What is a Latin name?). Then that really isn’t his fault.

What makes you think this? Had these men been promptly deported, detained until their immigration hearings or better yet sent back to Mexico to wait, this would not have happened and at least 7 men would not have had the opportunity to rape children and women here. Removing any threat from the community is positive, even if it doesn't solve the entire threat that includes American attackers.

No they are here because counties like MoCo give them sanctuary. That looks like it's worked out terribly for citizens.

We would send them to Mexico because it is the current policy to send "asylum seekers" back across the border to Mexico to wait until their immigration hearings are complete. That way they cant travel to MoCo to rape children while their "asylum" cases work their way through the overburdened court system. At least be aware of what's going on before asking stupid questions.

Montgomery county isn’t giving them a sanctuary. Immigration law is federal law. Aren’t you conservatives all about limited government? This is what limited government means. Not doing the feds’ job for them. Montgomery County complies with all federal law. It just doesn’t do more than that.

BS. For the 100th time, no one is asking MoCo to do the feds job. If they can call ICE on some cases (those deemed serious enough based on unclear criteria), they can call ICE on all cases. There is no law that says it's legal to call in some cases based on made up criteria but not other cases. Elrich is backtracking and trying to have it both ways so that people won't see the stupidity of not working with ICE and not allowing them into the jails. This reporter is doing exactly what he should be in exposing Elrich pandering policies as dangerous. Yes you are, because you don’t understand what is federal law and what is local law. The only thing federal law requires from local entities is communication, and Montgomery County does that. They send prints to the FBI. ICE knows who’s here and who’s not. The jail calls on all (federal) Secure Communities Level I and II detainers AND on all locally-charged serious crimes like rape, murder, robbery. It’s up to ICE to get them. The easiest way is by picking them up at the jail or courthouse. Sometimes they get there on time. Sometimes they don’t. But ICE can pick up people anywhere in the community at any time.

It’s not the County’s fault that ICE is inappropriately resourced to detain people on a timely basis. And I suppose it isn’t your fault for being ignorant. Elrich certainly isn’t communicating County processes very well.

I saw an interview yesterday of a local broadcaster who said that he hears from police regularly - they identify some of the illegal aliens as MS-13, but they are still released after arrest.

Judges set bonds. Judges are appointed by the governor and we’ve had for them in the elections. This has nothing to do with the county commissioner.

I agree that the judges should not be letting rapists out on bond. But that means they wouldn’t be able to let the country club breakfast out on bond either. White male judges are not going to put white males in jail for rape accusations.

Major crimes hands over MS – 13 ice, ICE deports them them, then they come back. That is because ice sucks.
