OK.. so what are the great outcomes?

NAFTA - Trump's not done anything yet.
TPP - he pulled out of it, and now the farmers, who overwhelmingly are R and voted for him, are really worried
ACA - I don't even need to say anything about this
NK - there was very little chance that Kim would've bombed Guam, and even Putin said that NK would rather have their people eating grass than give up their nukes. China and Russia, NK's closest allies, couldn't even prevent them from getting the nukes.
Illegal Immigrants - what town/city not along the border has seen a dramatic decrease in illegal immigrants? Have you seen them all disappear?
The Wall - so, it turns out that MX won't be paying for it. American taxpayers will. Certainly the illegal immigrants won't be paying for it.

You want to focus on outcomes, but to date, there really is not much you can point to in terms of outcome.

My brain is wired to use critical thinking skills, and to recognize when I'm being bamboozled by a snake oil salesman. And sure, past POTUS have had their personal issues, but I have a line and some standards. Trump goes below them. I'm sorry you have such low standards for your POTUS. Basically, what I hear you saying is "who cares if he shoots someone on 5th ave as long as he does things that I agree with."

And I'm a former R.

Thank you for sharing. I feel completed now.

Well, one of the outcomes is that this country is even more divided than ever, and our "dear" leader can't/won't/doesn't seem capable of repairing that rift; that even with the Rs controlling all three branches of our government, they can't get anything major done, like repealing and replacing ACA. One of the few bipartisan things R congress has done is to write up a non binding resolution for Trump to denounce white supremacists. I agree with this outcome.

Clap it out with me: Neo-Nazis and KKK are not embraced by Republicans.

This is your strategy for 2018? Will I need to smear blood across my door in order for Antifa to passover my house? Am I being punked right now?

DP. If Republicans truly reject Neo-Nazis and the KKK, then they should nullify any votes they receive from anybody in those organizations.

Why don't you run that by the ACLU first.

Got it. So Republicans reject the neo-Nazis and KKK on Twitter to look nice, but that's as far as it goes.

Don't let me stop you. Go ahead and try to sue if you, personally, have standing.

I can see my own bias. I fucking hate this guy. I really hate him. I hate who is he, what he says, what he represents, what he brings out in other people. I hate that we have to follow every dumb thought that comes into his head and flies through his fingers. I did not watch the Apprentice; I have never found him entertaining. I do not find him entertaining or even baseline competent now.

I also work in journalism - not politics, don't worry - and I know how this stuff gets reported. You are naive as hell if you think that the reason there are a lot of bad stories about Trump is because of bias. There are only so many ways you can report on a shit sandwich.

Exactly.

Anonymous wrote:Fellow Trump voters: everyday you guys check in on dcum and mix it up with the political opposition, both democrat and republican, despite being outnumbered about 5 to 1 on here and contending with a decidedly liberal moderator. Yet here you are, day in and day out, punching the clock, defending the President, extolling the virtues of law enforcement, free speech, and capitalism. You are the best! America is lucky to have you, and so is this political forum. To the liberal opposition--you are wrong. About everything. From taxes to immigration to law enforcement to free speech to climate change, I've never encountered a group of people like yourselves who, despite having all of the evidence in front of you, continue to make the wrong choices--both about what you believe and who you support.
Now, having cleared the air, can we all be Facebook friends again?

Your Orange Leader is decidedly opposed to free speech. I have not seen a single post by a Trumpskyite in favor of free speech. Your OL is constantly calling stories he doesn't like "fake" and he's constantly lying about pretty much everything. That's not free speech. That's promulgating lies, as many Trumpskyites do here, many of them paid, I'm certain of that. And many Russian, also.

It cracks me up when you guys rationalize that only paid posters and Russians could *possibly* be the conservative posters. It's clear you still think that's an exciting (and true) story line, but it only makes you look even more ridiculous and impossibly naïve.

Also, you must be new here. There have been post after post by conservatives and/or Trump voters (remember, they're not always one in the same) defending the right to free speech. It's unfortunate that we have to put up with Neo-Nazi and KKK trash spewing their hateful speech, but they're within their rights - as are counter protesters and anyone else, for that matter. If anything, it's you liberals who want to silence anyone who dares to disagree with you. Why is that?

NP... and I have to seriously disagree with your nonsense premise about how the left "silences" others.

We don't silence anyone.

You say "X"

We say "You're WRONG, it's Y and here's why...."

That isn't silencing you. Sorry but free speech is a two way street. You are free to exercise your right of free speech to say the things you say, even though what you say is typically misinformed, factless talking points full of rhetorical fallacies, and we are free to exercise our right of free speech to call you out for it. If you think free speech means you get to say whatever you like and spew "alternative facts" ala your hero Donald Trump and it will just go uncontested, then that's just plain wrong. That isn't how free speech works. We aren't silencing you at all. The only person here who has the power to delete posts is Jeff and he is his own person. More likely you're just mad that we keep debunking your bogus talking points and taking your credibility away. That isn't something you should be blaming us for, it's something you can only blame yourself for.

Hmm, no, that's not it. If anything, seeing the melodrama you liberals create in the face of common sense legislation is eye-opening, to say the least. You go right ahead thinking you've got all the answers and are right about everything. Rational, sane people who can think for themselves know you're all just spouting the usual nonsense.

Of course free speech is a two-way street; no one here has argued otherwise. The point many of us were trying to make is that there comes a time when you should simply STOP trying to argue with your opponents (KKK, Neo-Nazis, etc.) and just let them burn themselves out. Why do you continue feeding the beast, getting in their faces and arguing? No one is listening, least of all the Neo-Nazis.

And finally, liberals absolutely try and silence those who disagree with them. There really is no denying that fact. All one has to do is read through the threads on this forum to see example after example of liberals trying to end a discussion by screaming, "RACIST! NAZI! RUSSIAN! BOT!" That's a sure sign they have nothing intelligent to say and actually think that will shut up the person they're arguing with. It's really a pathetic tactic, but it's all yours. So own it.

Oh, please. Do you not realize that you are probably only talking about one or two over-the-top "RACIST! NAZI!" posters out of the hundreds of perfectly sane and rational liberal posters that visit this site?

Talk about MELODRAMA.

Seems to me you are deflecting, particularly given you never want to acknowledge or address any of the hundreds of legitimate posts that sane, rational Dem posters post here every single day without ever accusing anyone of being a racist or Nazi?

Of course I address those. I enjoy having (the very rare) intelligent debate with rational people. Unfortunately, those posters are completely dwarfed by the lunatic "NAZI and RACIST!" morons. There are not "one or two" of them. And you know it. The vast majority of liberal posts on this site are unhinged, profanity-laced, hate-filled rants. Who wants to engage with those lowlifes? Not me.

Yup. My problem is that I take the bait when the liberals attack with their insulting accusations in defense of Trump voters, and I'm trying to stop. But what seems to be happening is that almost all the exchanges consist of liberals going on the offensive with hate-filled profanity and rants, and the conservatives arguing back that it's not true. An actual debate with rationale liberals is becoming harder and harder to find.

Definitely. I just love the recent poster who tried to have the last word by calling us idiots. IDIOTS! So decisive! I guess s/he told us!

It would be funny if it weren't so sad. She responds to a claim that she is shutting down debate by leveling hateful remarks with the word "idiots." It makes it so much easier to make the point when they demonstrate it for you, doesn't it?

+1
They seem utterly incapable of recognizing the irony. Or their constant hypocrisy, for that matter.

Black bloc. Idiot Trump voters don't even know who the anarchists are.

Nope. We know who they are and we know they're leftists. You want us to claim the KKK, so it looks like you're stuck with Black bloc and antifa. Enjoy.

Totally false comparison, and a pathetic one at that. Your desperation is showing.

The KKK LOVES Trump and they have repeatedly said so, and they praised him for NOT denouncing them after Charlottesville. Trump refused to denounce them and several conservative hosts media hosts defended the march and even said Heather Heyer deserved to die. You ARE linked.

Antifa on the other hand has nothing to do with liberals. Antifa are anarchists, and they hate government. Liberals on the other hand love their big government. Antifa hates liberals. Antifa protested Clinton and Obama. Liberals universally and unequivocally condemned and denounced Antifa, by name. NO link.

Only a completely clueless and ignorant idiot who thinks "leftist" means "anyone who isn't right wing" would think so.

Do you have a link to the video in which a conservative news host says Heather Heyer deserved to die? I'd like to know the exact words.

Yes, I'd like to see this too. We'll wait.

PP here. This isn't the first time a liberal on this forum has claimed conservative news hosts have said that woman deserved to die. (It could just be the same liberal, making the same incendiary claim.) But I've know liberals to re-create stories before, which is why I asked to see the tape. So....waiting....

LOL. You had a conservative flat out lie and sock puppet last week. You've lost all credibility.

Are you the PP who is obsessed with that one poster? You do realize it was ONE poster, right? As for you guys, you lose credibility with virtually every post. So, there's that.

DP. It wasn't Sean Hannity who said it, but one of the guests on his show who criticized her for marching that day. He seems to imply that it was her own fault and she got what was coming to her for counter protesting alongside Antifa.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/hannity-host-hether-heyer-antifa_us_59a8d292e4b0b5e530fd7fbf

Well, that's sure different than the poster who claimed Hannity (or some other conservative talk show host) said she deserved to die. And you thought that the guest "implied.....she got what was coming to her" is also a matter for interpretation. I hear it as the guest pointing out that she did participate in the violent Antifa march, and was not an innocent bystander. That's also different from saying she deserved it. But I agree it was pretty cold of the guest to say even that.

So, as I thought, the story was embellished. Nobody said she deserved to die, and certainly not a conservative newsperson. That said, I am very sorry this young woman lost her life.

Well, actually the guest is a conservative Youtue talk show host. Jonathan Gilliam at http://www.jonathantgilliam.com/the-experts.html. To me, and others, it sounds like he's saying she deserved to die, much like saying 'play with fire and you'll get burned.' And just because Antifa was marching at the same time she was, does not mean she was part of Antifa. Anyways, that's the one I know of, there are probably others. Lots of conservative 'leaders', like the rally organizer, the operator of Daily Stormer, and Richard Spencer were pretty disrespectful towards her death, and even happy about it. If that's how conservative leaders felt, then conservative talk show hosts probably felt the same way.

Um, conservative =/= KKK. The "leaders" you mention? They're KKK and /or Alt-Right.

Like his IQ doesn't hit 3 digits. Had he not been given daddy's money, he would be one of those blowhards yelling about not having a job because some hardworking immigrant was smarter and harder working.

Are you 12? I don't know any adult who starts sentences with "like."

Are you anxious about growing older? Lots of posts about age....

(And this last one defies logic. Predictably.)

The last one is taking place in Canada, not the U.S.

Who cares where it's taking place? Liberals are liberals. And those are some mighty fine examples of your ilk. As for the source, I simply copied pictures found on Google. A picture is worth a thousand words, regardless of what source it's from.

I also don't see what's wrong with the photos of the liberal learning marchers. Are you upset that they exist? Is it tie nudity you find offensive?

I can tell you specifically what is wrong with the Trump-supporting marchers. THEY ARE CARRYING NAZI FLAGS. They are wearing t-shirts that advocate the literal killing of journalists. Somehow...that seems a lot worse than the photos you are showing. I know - you think the liberals are super tacky, and the Trump lovers with their KKK outfits are just nice boys out having a good time.

Yes, you're right. I love those KKK boys. Just as much as you love your Antifa wackos.

Also, those are different meanings of the word "like." PP - the one who was asking if you're 12 - seems to think you meant it as the kind of Valley Girl verbal tic: "Like, his IQ doesn't hit 3 digits?" Whereas clearly you meant it in the more literal sense of, where the word "like" was a stand in for a word like "clearly" or "obviously." "Obviously his IQ doesn't hit 3 digits."

So bad insult PP. You failed on a number of levels, including among them your English comprehension.

That you actually think it's correct to start a sentence with "like" only proves the point. You are either 12 years old or simply very, very stupid. Either way, you really aren't in any position to be lecturing others on their "English comprehension."
