I just saw Jenna get some heat for making fun of a random dad on Instagram who deigned to wear a speedo. Jenna doesn't think it's appropriate bc she doesn't want to see her husband in a speedo.

Note to Jenna: Honey, none of us want to see your husband in a speedo.

She was a teacher beforehand and is a kind, intelligent relatable mother, wife, daughter, etc. I live in her town and don’t watch the morning show often due to children and work, but I think she is awesome.

She was a teacher's aide at a charter school, so not quite.

I have a theory that corporate at NBC attempted a major turn around after years of leaked stories regarding sex and staff drama on the Today show, of which there were many stories over many years. Matt Lauer and his screwing in his office with colleagues and assaulting one on the road was the final straw. So yes I think they like the sacharine, are overcompensating with pseudo "family entertainment" and do in fact like the stories of Gammy and Gampy. Then Jenna Bush does that thing of being " outrageous" and inappropriate/messy and people think it's hysterical. And it provides some entertainment and respite from the forced vanilla vibe of this unwatchable show. She's playing dumber than she is in my opinion.

Some of this, but also, they see the writing on the wall with what’s happening with non-streaming TV. 15 years ago, when Carson Daley was still young, and Gen X was the young demographic people wanted to get, they hired him. They also put a tech segment on called the orange room to try to get more engagement on social media, basically trying to re-create what TRL did on MTV.

As years have gone on younger people aren’t watching morning shows anymore. So they know where their bread is buttered, and they have canceled the tech segment and let Carson age without trying to replace him, and are doing many more segments on faith and religion, walking programs that older people can do along with Al Roker, and a ton of brain health segments.

Why do people watch television in the morning? Why invite chattering morons into the peace of your waking hour? Can't you just read the paper and enjoy the quiet?

LOL---so true! But, in all fairness, Jenna has claimed several times on air that she was a "teacher". Many dummy " celebrity" cultists don't know the difference.

sometimes you just are turning it on to get the weather and the traffic but have to suffer through the chattering for a few minutes.

she was a teacher's aide in DC, then did international work and then worked at another school in Baltimore ( I think part time). The secret service near their Baltimore home was big news at the time. she's been on the today show a long time - someone must be watching.

Weather, traffic and recipes.

Read the paper ... I don't need talking heads to tell me what to think.

There are other hours in the day for quiet.

I only watch morning TV when I am still tired and slow to get my act together in the morning. I watch it maybe two or three days a month and it’s mindless viewing while waiting for my coffee to kick in.
