Georgetown defers everyone. |
Same. At least 10 at DD's school too. |
They know that no one is going to actually complain to them though. |
| My kid didn’t even ED anywhere, and she was on edge all weekend on behalf of her friends. Such an emotional process. Good luck to everyone! |
Remember when you were in high school, asked a girl out and got lame excuses over and over? That's why. |
That's a lot of kids ED'ing to Duke from one school. Are your kids in private schools or public? DMV area? |
Got it, thanks. |
Private. And another 6 ED to Dartmouth and most are hooked or soft-hooked in one way or another (legacy, sibling, child of VIP, etc). They are both super popular this year. |
DP. Public MCPS. At least 8 kids ED’d to Duke this year. |
It still baffles me why anyone would want their child in a HS environment like that! |
DP here, but I don't understand this comment. You hear about a college prep high school that has lots of high performing (read: smart and motivated) kids and that's what you're wondering?!? I'm of the opposite mind - my kid is val at a suburban public school and I'm not sure my kid is going to get into Duke ED because the last time Duke took a kid from my kid's high school was a few years ago... |
PP here. I don’t want my child at a school that fawns all over certain families because they are “VIP” whatever that means. Having spent several years working at Duke, I wouldn’t send my child there either. |
| Duke loves athletes from DMV, not students. |
It seems that way but perhaps they do admit 15%-ish in the REA round. And Georgetown say they'll admit only 10% of all the deferrals in RD round. Very discouraging. |
| When do Harvard ED find out? It said mid December. Has anyone heard yet? |
