The local paper says he was a student in 2017. He’s in the yearbook.

Real life is not like a movie. Most people are going to hesitate, get nervous, or panic in these situations. That is not a reliable option.

Liar. Trained and experienced armed people are essential.

And trained and experienced armed people aren’t that hard to find. They just need to be allowed to be armed in these places. Most of the time, it’s not permitted. And since they’re not criminals and follow rules, they’re unarmed, despite being the type of people who could be relied on to stop stuff like this before the police can get there.

Look up Uvalde.

Yeah - a bunch of cops following orders from other cops not to engage the shooter because he wasn’t finished killing yet. That’s not what we’re talking about, Hon. Cops are part of the problem.

Anti-Catholicism is on the rise. What can we do to stop it?

50% of Catholics are liberal. Most of the Supreme Court is Catholic. Catholics aren't a monolith, they are statistically representative of Americans. Who is targeting Catholics? Is this 1920?

Anti-Catholic hate doesn't care if you're liberal or conservative -- all Catholics are targets. What does the Supreme Court have to do with it? (Twenty-percent of Americans are Catholic, so yes, like Jews at 2.4% of the American population, Catholics have at times been overrepresented on the current Supreme Court.)

Of course it's not 1920 (nor 1933), but anti-Catholicism is a scourge that never goes away, as we saw today.

He didn’t choose the school because it was Catholic, he chose it because he used to go there

He was a trans who obviously hated the Catholic teaching on that subject and hated Trump. He "may" have attended the school for 1 year out of his 12 years of school, along with other schools. He didn't target the school "because he used to go there" -- he drew a map of the church with a cross and plotted out his revenge on Catholics by murdering children in a Catholic church.

Wasn’t that the incident where cowards used their authority to prevent people made of sterner stuff from going to the rescue, while themselves quaking and hiding frozen in fear?

Yes. That was Uvalde.

There is no need to focus on gender or race or political views.

No sane person guns down people.

Stay focused on the issue.

I’m curious if anyone has studied mass shooters and tracked their mental health diagnosis, medications, and red flags.

^^^
That’s what matters.

Race, gender, religion, politics, etc. are the primary cause. Mental illness prompted this.

Says no one ever when a mosque or a synagogue is attacked. The killer literally had "Kill Donald Trump" written on his guns.

Wait, didn’t we have a Catholic president and so now all anti-catholic hate is supposed to be over? I thought that was how it worked.

The picture emerging from the shooter's final videos show symbols related to 764 and o9a (extremist online communities) as well as praise of and references to prior mass shooters (KMFDM sticker) such as the Columbine shooters that show links to the True Crime Community that idolize mass shooters.

Come in down MAGA and does your lies no one with a brain is buying your crap

Shane on you you aren’t Christian your fools and anti American racists

How does that square with the shooter’s rants against “filthy Zionist Jews”?

LOL you are very stupid

The shooter is a Christian nationalist racist his words on line make that quite clear

Children died because of Republicans again I’m a gun owner and I know this sits squarely on the Republican Party

So you’re saying the shooter was a MAGA/Trump supporter?

Is that what you’re asserting?

A confirmed white male. I’m not surprised.

This aged like milk.

How? He’s a biological man.

There’s no such thing.

The shooter IS a woman. Period. End of discussion.

The shooter was biologically male and identified as a they/them. Stop spreading misinformation.

The shooter is a trans woman. Trans women ARE women.
Maybe in your head but not according to the science of biology.

The science of biology shows us that there have long existed many different types of gender in the natural world. Some animals can actually change their gender (including the much loved butterfly species), some species (including humans) recognize a third gender, some are able to be multiple genders at the same time, some humans are born with ambiguous gender and can choose.
Since we don’t know the specific situation here, I think it best to let it go. It had nothing to do with the victims.

No actually those organisms change their sex. Gender is a human social construct.

This, and/or because his mother used to work there. Shooter was probably a Catholic.

Oh, is that the rule applied to everyone? Or just Catholics? Because I seem to recall a summer of "racial justice" rioting and BLM long after Obama's two terms and Nobel Peace Prize were in the rear view mirror.
Wait, didn’t we have a Catholic president and so now all anti-catholic hate is supposed to be over? I thought that was how it worked.

Yes. This proving that allowing trained, experienced, armed people to be on the scene doesn’t solve the problem.

Only thing Uvalde proved was that cops can’t be trusted to protect us. The only people we can count on, are those among us willing to step up and do something. Not civil servants with authority complexes.
