Anti-Catholicism is on the rise. What can we do to stop it?

50% of Catholics are liberal. Most of the Supreme Court is Catholic. Catholics aren't a monolith, they are statistically representative of Americans. Who is targeting Catholics? Is this 1920?

A confirmed white male. I’m not surprised.

This aged like milk.

How? He’s a biological man.

There’s no such thing.

The shooter IS a woman. Period. End of discussion.

The shooter was biologically male and identified as a they/them. Stop spreading misinformation.

The shooter is a trans woman. Trans women ARE women.

dp.. I don't care if a man wants to wear women's clothing and call themselves a woman, but they are still a man. It's ridiculous to say otherwise.

You can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig.

How long have you been a MAGA?

I voted for Biden and Harris. Don't think that all non MAGA think like you do. We don't.

This is man, in women's clothing. They may identify as a woman, but that doesn't mean that they are really a woman.

I can identify as a 6' dude, but I'm clearly not because I'm barely 5' and a female, but inside, I really feel like a 6' bada$$. I know .. it's quite pathetic. But, you get my point.

Right? I cannot understand how anybody can the facts about what happened and think this was anything but extreme mental illness, which is very much entwined with this person's gender dysphoria. Yet, they blame "Republicans" and MAGA. It makes no sense at all.

Those people are talking about who deserves blame for mentally ill people having access to assault weapons, presumably

"I am severely depressed and have been suicidal for years."

"Only recently have I lost all hope and decided to perform my final action against this world."

Tracks with almost every similar-type shooter. depressed + suicidal + wants notoriety + access to guns

You can read the shooter's manifesto here:

Why is no one addressing the fact that the shooter is a former student?

Anti-Catholic hate doesn't care if you're liberal or conservative -- all Catholics are targets. What does the Supreme Court have to do with it? (Twenty-percent of Americans are Catholic, so yes, like Jews at 2.4% of the American population, Catholics have at times been overrepresented on the current Supreme Court.)

Of course it's not 1920 (nor 1933), but anti-Catholicism is a scourge that never goes away, as we saw today.

Being trans in no way = mental illness.

Being trans may not be a mental illness, but there’s clearly a correlation, at a minimum.

Studies show that trans people suffer from mental illness at a higher rate than the general population.

i bet a study would show that people who own multiple fire arms also have a higher rate of mental illness compared to the general pop.

Yet we allow crazy people to buy guns.

You’d probably lose money on that bet.

I think I would actually win. Only people with mental illness would feel the need to have that many guns, and powerful ones like semi automatic rifles.

Crazy people don't realize that they are crazy. But, the rest of us normal people see that someone who feels that they need a ton of guns has a mental illness.

Semi automatic rifles are the most common weapon used for hunting.

Many/most hunters have multiple either bc each serves a different hunting purpose or bc they’ve “upgraded” to newer models over time.

You need to get out more.

hunting living things just for sport is a mental illness. Crazies can't recognize crazy.

Most hunters hunt for food. You a vegan?

Because that hasn’t been confirmed anywhere? And who cares? The shooter’s note didn’t say anything about the school or the church causing the shooter any harm. Because the note said - “No one did anything wrong, but I’m an a**hole and can’t help myself.”

He didn’t choose the school because it was Catholic, he chose it because he used to go there

I had not read that. I saw his mom had worked there.

Focus on the primary issue here: mental illness.

There is no need to focus on gender or race or political views.

No sane person guns down people.

Stay focused on the issue.

I’m curious if anyone has studied mass shooters and tracked their mental health diagnosis, medications, and red flags.

^^^
That’s what matters.

Race, gender, religion, politics, etc. are the primary cause. Mental illness prompted this.

What a loser - goes to shoot up the k-8 school he used to go - too cowardly to try a high school that might have had better security (or at least students better able to hide or defend themselves)

Maybe in your head but not according to the science of biology.

The science of biology shows us that there have long existed many different types of gender in the natural world. Some animals can actually change their gender (including the much loved butterfly species), some species (including humans) recognize a third gender, some are able to be multiple genders at the same time, some humans are born with ambiguous gender and can choose.
Since we don’t know the specific situation here, I think it best to let it go. It had nothing to do with the victims.

You are not a woman if you're born with a dingaling.

I’m just pointing out that some are born with ambiguous genitalia and are often assigned a gender that later is not really appropriate as development continues. This is difficult for all, but especially so in a political environment where they are labeled against their will.

That is a separate issue from the trans craze.

Mentally ill, depressed, angry, medicated individuals are not always thinking rationally.
