I don't understand how this provision isn't a violation of the Byrd Amendment. It's a policy issue that has zero to do with taxation or spending. The entire bill seems to be chock full of provisions that will violate Byrd. This thing is going to get stuck in the Senate. |
No one in charge has probably even heard of the Byrd amendment. And if the courts have no teeth, what does it even matter anyway? Who will enforce?
We live in a Banana Republic now. |
They want a king. So much for standing your ground. |
Breaking from the NYT:
Trump’s Policy Bill Could Add $2.4 Trillion to Debt, CBO Analysis Shows The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office said Wednesday that the broad Republican bill to cut taxes and slash some federal programs would add $2.4 trillion to the already soaring national debt over the next decade, in an analysis that was all but certain to inflame concerns that President Trump’s domestic agenda would lead to excessive government borrowing. |
Any republicans using the D word against their political opponent are hypocrites. |
The Senate will (probably) abide by the Byrd rule. More importantly, isn't reconciliation supposed to be revenue neutral? Doesn't this kill a lot of the Big Beautiful Bill? |
It is worst vs that. The bill transfers 1.5 trillion from working class people to the rich. The rich do not spend that money in the US economy. |
So will the Senate ax the most troubling parts about AI and the courts? Or they will just rubber stamp after pretending to care like the House did? |
+1 and most of the people on the right in our government don't seem to care that their Dear Leader said he doesn't think he has to defend the Constitution, if they even know what's in the Constitution, and clearly many don't. |
