GDS just added Dartmouth (multiple), BROWN!!!!, and UVA to the already jaw dropping list.
#GDSWins

Aren’t Ivy apps down 17% versus last year?

Did some people struggle w keeping their applications in to some of these schools?

Do you mean it was easier to get into Ivy's thi year?

Michigan - 4
Penn - 4

“Cumulative numbers”? No, thanks!

What’s wrong with cumulative numbers?

Cumulative numbers can hide important changes and trends—it doesn’t tell the current story. For example, all 4 Penn admits may have happened 4 years ago. There have been zero Penn admits for 3 years. If I’m a STA student (or prospective student) interested in Penn, I would like to know this information.

You are a shit stirrer and won’t get into STA so no worries there.

You are incorrect. There were 2 STA admits last year.

Lol—I don’t want to be admitted to STA. I’m a parent and I have daughters. My oldest daughter applied and was admitted to NCS. Thankfully, she was admitted to her top choice coed private, so she declined NCS’ offer. My youngest daughter didn’t apply to NCS because, after the first admissions cycle with my oldest daughter, I wasn’t impressed with the Cathedral Schools.

I hope that you enjoy that joyless, stifling environment though. It seems like a good fit for you.

Good riddance! I highly doubt she was admitted.

I don’t have anything to prove to you. Believe it or not. Thankfully, she attends a much better school.

Show us the receipts or it didn’t happen. Did I get that right?

Like I said, I don’t have anything to prove. However, I will share (for kicks and giggles) a funny NCS story. NCS didn’t offer a shadow day before my oldest daughter was admitted. After she was admitted, she was sent a shadow day invitation. It included a program at the National Cathedral. I just looked at the email—it’s referred to as “School Cathedral.” However, the shadow day did not include lunch. It was the ONLY school she considered that didn’t include lunch because the shadow day started at 8 am and ended at 11:15 am! She was already over NCS, but that was the final straw. She refused to attend the shadow day, saying she had seen enough.

Btw, another all girls school that admitted her, Holton-Arms, had a fabulous shadow day. As a matter of fact, Holton is an amazing school. It’s just a bit too far away from our house.

Probably for the best. Based on your writing style and your bizarre thinking and chip on your shoulder I don't think your daughter would have fit in. This sort of low brow behavior isn't the norm at NCS. It has a high class vibe and terms like "receipts" and some ofter choice language is not used by adults there.

It’s definitely for the best that she doesn’t attend NCS. Based on the school’s reputation as a place of perpetual misery, I discouraged her from applying. However, I eventually relented and allowed her to apply. Thankfully, she discovered what I already knew about the school.

If you think NCS has a high class vibe, that says a lot about you—lol. Enjoy your time at NCS.

Enjoy wherever it is that "receipts" and "kicks and giggles" is common language.

Thanks, both of my daughters love Sidwell! I’m not sure what terms are commonly heard on campus, but I’m happy they’re receiving a great education and they look forward to attending school everyday.

I hope your daughter enjoys her time at NCS, where tears and anxiety are common occurrences. Unsolicited advice: put some money aside for her future therapy bills.
Happy Holidays!

Wow - let’s mock teen mental health issues. Covering yourself in glory here.

The two of you are definitely doing your respective schools proud on this thread. Like a slow-motion car wreck where both drivers are criminally at fault. Just cannot look away. Your poor kids.

Yes, yes, we know they go to Sidwell and NCS and are the most wonderfulest girls in the WHOLE WORLD. Save it.

Nah it started between an STA parent and the other crazy parent that claims to have a child at Sidwell. Others chimed in....

So STA, Sidwell, NCS.

Let’s keep a list of how many crazy parents from each school embarrass themselves and their kids on DCUM. Perhaps another inst page?

The Asians and South Asians are cleaning up this year in these post-Supreme Court decision times. The privates can't compete because they don't have many Asians and those they have were not necessarily the highest achievers in their feeders schools (prior to coming to private).

yes--absolutely. It's clear on almost every Instagram page.
I've been obsessively watching these pages for the past 2-3 years and there is a definite shift this year.

I'm not posting this to start yet an endless debate about how college admissions should be handled but there is a noticeable uptick in Asians this year---at my 2 kid's private schools and pretty much on every Instgram post
both here and in other cities (I follow others as well).

(Not Asian myself but calling a spade a spade---look at all the Instagrams--it is clear!!)

Wow: https://www.instagram.com/beyondthebulldog2024/

School that is 32% Asian has Asian admits. Unbelievable.

What did last year look like? And the year before?

Bullis early admit round looks good.

It looks
ok. So far, Bullis isn’t having the results GDS has right now.

Well, Bullis isn’t GDS, so there’s that. As a Bullis family, we are incredibly happy that there is a large range of colleges and universities they are accepted to and it says that they are willing to challenge those who need the challenge and support those who need the support.

I don’t know about a large range. These are all top schools.

I wouldn’t refer to this as a list of top schools. I would call this a tiny number of top schools, but mostly a list of safeties.

Which schools are the safeties?

I consider the following schools to be safeties:

Bucknell University
Boston College
Boston University
Colgate University
College of Charleston
Davidson College
Dickinson College
New York University (no campus, so it’s a nonstarter)
Pitzer College
Skidmore College
Tufts University
University of Richmond
Washington University in St. Louis

Safeties for who? Did you have a kid go through college applications recently?

Safeties for my children. My oldest child attends Wharton, and my youngest is still in high school (the same one her sibling attended). I’m a Penn alum, but I’m not a Wharton alum.

Wharton isn’t a safety for anyone, so don’t try that line of attack. You may not like what I posted, but I’m not lying. As a matter of fact, BU was one of her safeties.

I didn’t say any of those colleges are terrible schools, so please unclench.

The "line of attack" wouldn't be Wharton is a bad school, it would be you're a bad person.

Are you saying that prior to the Supreme Court decision, they'd have been "screened" out?

yes--absolutely.

Interesting. Anecdotally, the two Harvard admits I know personally are Asian/So Asian.

So because someone says their kid attends a certain school then it means it is true? Sure right.

Let's start with you. The poster was defending STA (and consequently then NCS because the poster was putting down both schools). Noone ever said their kid attended NCS just fyi.
