Yeah, and adolescent circadian rhythms be damned! |
NO. You people need to stop. This is the way it has been and will be unless MCPS caves to your fringe interests. Thankfully they don’t seem interested and we only have 3 years left. Stop trying to ruin my kids’ high school experience because you can’t be a parent and put your kids to bed at a decent hour. |
The way you refuse to evolve is just...really embarrassing...have fun being stuck in the past while the rest of us move into the future (and catch up with the rest of the country/world bc MCPS is super behind in terms of the start/dismissal) |
Lol...kids have been going late forever? Phones are fairly new; they will figure out other things to do other than sleep. Either your kids are severely lacking imagination or you are simply clueless. |
Yes, and the power of astrological science too! ![]() |
We do the exact same thing. It seems like some people are simply against parenting their children. |
You actually just sound incredibly privileged, entitled, and childish. So many parents work nights and aren’t there to ensure their kids don’t use screens. Also, as someone else pointed out, they can occupy themselves with things other than phones (but apparently your kids aren’t creative enough and just go to bed when they have no screen time, so I’d look in the mirror before coming for other parents) |
When you can cite pubmed "astrological science", please do! ![]() |
If you overschedule your kids, that's on you |
Those complaints aren't parents of kids in activities. They are the parents whose kids aren't in activities who allow them to stay up/hang out. My kids have to get up early either way. I'd rather keep my kids scheduled and learning skills vs. being online or hanging out getting into trouble. Funny how we manage it all just fine. |
How many parents just work nights where the kids are home alone? You can make all kinds of excuses. It doesn't matter why the kids stay up. Its up to the parents to tell them to go to bed and enforce. |
So glad MCPS will pay 0 attention to this nonsense. Sure, it would be nice if schools started an hour or two later. However, there are other factors, and they've made the best possible decision given those considerations. In the end, you can't make everyone happy. |
If you take away screens, kids will find another way to amuse themselves. Stop blaming screens. Be a parent. |
Activities are fine, but there is no way that it's healthy for kids to be overscheduled or as busy as they are. |
My Hs started at 7:15am advisory. Done by 2:50pm or so.
Guess I survived and thrived somehow. |
