I am not linked to this club or Loudoun, and have just casually skimmed this thread. I think people are put off by VRSC because it seems like they are just buying their way into trying to be a so called elite club instead of building a reputation somewhat organically. Most clubs start out in a more humble way, not with buying access to super nice expensive facilities and a league meant to lure parents in based on name recognition (particularly on the boys side). And the people who seem to really be drinking the Kool Aid are the image-focused, striver Loudoun County parents that many others find annoying to deal with in their kids' sports and activities. Strong "bro dad" energy where the main topics of conversation are kids sports, drinking, and home renovations.

Long story short, VRSC is kind of the epitome of what a lot of people feel is wrong with youth sports these days.

Love to hate? The MLS Next II teams are sub par, the director just got forcibly removed from the club and there are no quality coaches onboard. The so called great 2009 girls team has no recruits despite the "stellar" coach. Compare to our VDA team that has so many commits already. BP is the man. The remainder of the girls travel coaches are like the MLS Next coaches = sub par.

I can't see how that's a good thing for LU but it's the best thing that could have happened to VRSC. NE had no business coaching youth soccer. Only time will tell if CC, et. al., will be able to replicate the success of FCV but with JM's money and enough time, I could see it.
