delay or cancelled school tomorrow?

Anonymous
My husband was suggesting they might delay or cancel school tomorrow because it will be cold. Is there a threshold in MD? (I think windchill might be -5 in the AM )
I hope they wouldn't really cancel school for this? Is there precedent, or a policy in place?
thanks!

Are you new here?

It was just as cold a couple of weeks ago and they didn't cancel. No reason to do so now.

Two hour delay. Watch it happen.

It did not happen in MCPS.

Didn't happen last time just for cold - won't happen this time. I have never seen MCPS close the entire county or even delay due to cold weather - only specific buildings that may have heating issues.

There may be some ice from snow melt/refreeze. But I'm not expecting a delay.

cuh-cuh-cuhlose. It's cuh-cuh-chu-old already.

Other school districts did close for the one really cold day a few weeks back - but MCPS did not. I bet they don't this time either - they only have one snow day left and I'm willing to bet it snows sometime in Feb.

We received an email about possible changes to our training schedule tomorrow if there's a delay or closure.

I doubt MCPS would close, but Starr took a lot of heat when he opened on time during the last deep freeze.

No. Unless there is freezing and dangerous driving and walking conditions.

Have you seen how HEAVILY salted the roads are this year. Not gonna happen.

Delay due to expected cold. Book it.

How does a delay help with cold? It will be just as cold at 9am as it is at 7am.

I don't recall this. I recall Fairfax getting a lot of heat for closing.
