OK, the family story just keeps getting better.... now we hear that Bristol's 42-year-old mother-in-law to-be, one day, (oh sure) was busted for drugs two days before her son's out-of-wedlock baby is due.
As much as I want to laugh at the trailer-park antics going on here, I cannot help but feel sorry -- even more sorry -- for that baby. |
PP, please give it a rest already. People do not choose their families. Didn't Bill Clinton also come from trailer trash? Doesn't his brother have drug problems? Maybe this baby will actually beat the odds as others have. That's what we should hope for. |
And precisely how does Sarah Palin's daughter' boyfriends' mother reflect on Sarah Palin or her character. Puleeze!
My daughter's husband's sister's boyfriend got a DUI last week. What does that make me? |
guilty by association? |
In that case, HRC is disqualified for Sec of State because she is married to the man who emphatically declared "I did not have sexual relations with THAT woman..." whilst his sperm was on THAT woman's dress. |
He never said he did not have sexual relations with the dress. BTW, Mrs Johnston's drug is apparently oxycontin. You may recall that Track Palin also had an OxyContin problem. Is something going on between those two, or is Wasilla just a good town for scoring OxyContin? PS, my tongue is so far in my cheek I look like I have the mumps. (Do you think that would get me a prescription for Oxy?) |
Thank you! |
Let's also give terms like "trailer trash" a rest! |
If more people had bought trailers instead of these homes they couldn't afford, the whole country would be better off. To me people who bought trailers are the more sensible demographic. |
Yay!! Let's judge someone we dont even know about something she has NO control over!! YES!
Seriously, like SP had any control over anyone but herself. Get a fricken life. I hope that nobody in your family ever has any "scandalous" issues, and more so, I hope your neighbors or people who dont know you dont sit around wanting to discuss you. |
Palin is public figure. She put herself out there to be scrutinized. You cannot compare the lives of average people posting on this forum to Sarah Palin's life. You sign your private life away when you enter a public office. So it's fair to comment on her life and on those with whom she's involved. Stop being so high and mighty. Palin is a fool, and she will always be a fool. |
I was as horrified as anyone at the thought of Palin a step from the Oval Office, but I don' think we should underestimate her. With all her faults, she is an amazingly talented politician. Once she decides what she needs to know to get where she wants to go, she'll have her answers ready. The jump from Wasilla to Juneau to a national campaign was too fast a context change, but she's no fool! |
True, we do not choose our families, but we do choose our political leaders. And one of the judgments that we make about them (fairly, I think) is the environment that they come from and how they, as individuals, relate to that. Clinton came from shabby means -- so did Jimmy Carter for that matter (remember brother Billy?), but both were smart enough to become educated men and rise above their backgrounds. They both left certain less-gifted family members in the dust.
Sarah Palin, on the other hand, is/ was directly responsible for the upbringing of the family members who are causing this embarrassment. When your first two kids "turn out" to have drug problems, and one is an unwed teenage mother, well gee... don't you think that says something about Mama and the time she spent (or didn't spend) with them, guiding them to pursue a life above the riff-raff of Wasilla (which she herself managed to escape)? And to the poster who said to give it a rest.... how can we, when all of this keeps popping up in the news? |
Um...The woman arrested for drugs was SP's daughters fiances' Mother. NO relation to SP. And yes, when people run for office they do put themselves out there for scrutiny. But, you cant blame SP for this anymore than you can blame Obama for having a aunt who is an illegal alien.
So, you want to talk about Sarah Palin? great, talk about HER. And furthermore, So fricken what if her daughters future mother in law is a druggie? What's there really to talk about there. Do you need to go into a long discussion about it? probably not. |
She may be a fool, but substance abuse is not restricted to fools, or trailer trash, or whatever you might make of her. The problem with attacking substance abuse in her family is that you reinforce the shame that others feel due to their family member's drug or alcohol problem. it is not something to be mocked. So go after her, but do it in fair territory. Which in her case is wider than even the great state of Alaska. |
