Disney World during Spring Break? Are we crazy?

Anonymous
DC has Spring Break during the first week of April this year. Thinking of Disney? Are we crazy? Worried about crowds?
Anonymous
it will not be as busy as 2 weeks later - but crowds will be high

It will be crazy crowded. Not saying not to go. Just saying that it will be at peak crowd time.

From a travel website:

Most Crowded Times at Disney World

(Based on historical attendance*)

February: Presidents Week
Presidents Day is a national holiday in the US, occurring on the third Monday in February. Many schools extend the long weekend into a "Presidents Week" break.

Mid-March to Mid-April: Spring Break
"Spring Break" typically means ten days off from school for K-12 students. Dates vary, but usually fall from mid-March to mid-April. (College spring break is a very different thing...)

How would Hilton Head be for Spring Break -- 2nd week in April?

Did Disney on spring break twice. The first Saturday and Sunday were fine. By Tuesday it was nuts.

Not crazy if you don't have unrealistic expectations.

Stay on site and take advantage of any extra magic hours, ESPECIALLY those in the morning. Take a break from the parks in the afternoon and head back to the hotel to rest/swim in the pool.

We did Disney during spring break a few years ago. It was absolutely awful. Even staying on property did not help make it better. Never again

Disney is running huge specials right now for that time of year. So they think it isn't going to be hugely crowded and are trying to drum up more business.

We've done it and had a good time. Be prepared to be up and at the parks right when they open. You can do more before noon than you would do the rest of the day. Kick back at the pool (or nap) in the afternoon, and go back to the parks again later. It's definitely crowded, so in the afternoon lines are long (especially for the coaster and the toddler rides).

Yes, you are.

I am a Disney pro. Spring break. Once , never again

OP here. Thanks so much for the comments.

I too agree with promotions. Doesn't make sense why they would offer during such a historically crowded time.

I thought since Easter isn't until April 20th..that it might not be that crowded the first week...but now rethinking :[

We went during spring break and it was AWESOME. Definitely read up about ways to avoid crowds. We mapped out every hour of the day and planned out where we would eat to maximize time. We stayed at the Polynesian and took advantage of the magic hours - that was the only way I got to ride Space Mountain.

Try the Disney Cruise. The kids absolutely loved it, and there are venues for adults only. We did the combination land/sea and were able to bypass the crows.

I would go back in a heartbeat if my teenagers wanted to go.
