Disney World during Spring Break? Are we crazy?

I would go back in a heartbeat if my teenagers wanted to go.
Bypass the crowds.....I hate auto fix.

My sister lives in Orlando so we go visit her several times a year. We've been to Disney probably every possible month one could visit. Honestly, Spring Break is probably the absolute worst time to go. The crowds are just unbearable. The one time we went, all the Fast Passes were gone within the first half hour that the park was open. We waited in line 1 1/2 hour for one ride, then left and cut our losses. Just wasn't worth it.

Don't just consider when schools are off around here. Consider when schools are off ALL OVER THE COUNTRY! And consider that families within Florida travel to Orlando IN DROVES during their Spring Break, which may be a completely different week from ours.

Pick any other time. It's just not worth it. Anyone who lives in Orlando avoids it like the plague throughout March and April every year.

We went last year over spring break (week of Passover) and it was fabulous. YMMV, obviously, as do your preferences, but I thought it was very manageable and very fun. Staying on-property was a huge help, though. Every time we drove off for something we saw horrendous traffic jams.

We went last year over Spring Break. (We stayed off-site.) It wasn't too bad. We went to the parks first thing in the morning and then left after lunch. Towards the middle of the week, it seemed to get more crowded by lunch -- to the point where I couldn't take it and I was nearly sprinting out of there. Still, I would consider going again during Spring Break. I would go to the parks early, have a large mid-morning snack and then leave around noon and have lunch away from the parks. In the afternoon, we'd hang out at the pool.

We don't like to take the kids out of school for vacations and Spring Break works better for us than Summer break given our work schedules. So if we going to take vacations during Spring Break, we're just going to have to deal with crowds.
