Is there a chance of this happening and if yes then when will it be? Next Sat?
TIA |
| If schools are closed tomorrow, the Essay and SIS may be rescheduled to February 8, according to Beverly Jurenko (President, FCAG). (She posted to the FCAG Yahoo group earlier today.) |
| Why is this even being asked here? Call your child's middle school or the FCPS offices and ask. Don't cobble together ideas from an online forum and an advocacy group. I know kids would love to see the essay test postponed but seriously-- go to the source for something that important. |
| What technical issues occurred today? I read about problems at Longfellow and Frost. Would anyone with information please post it here? |
| Problems at Rachel Carson, too. |
| Also at Rocky Run. |
| Yet no problems at Kilmer. ???? |
|
Problems at Swanson in Arlington. When some kids saved their work, parts of their essays were deleted.
|
| Wow, that sucks. They should have backup paper and pens available,. |
|
So it is beyond just FCPS? Wow.
I feel badly for the kids. |

Just received this email:
Dear Parent: Today, FCPS administered the SIS and essay portions of the TJ admissions process. We unfortunately experienced significant technical issues at some of our testing sites. We observed that some students were able to complete the portions, while others were not. Those students who could not complete the portions were offered the option to leave. We are now assessing the extent of the technical difficulties and are deeply sorry for the problem. We will be in touch with you byFriday, January 31, with options for your student to continue the application process. Please contact us if you have questions or concerns at tjadmissions@fcps.edu or call 571-423-3770. Again, we apologize for this inconvenience. Sincerely, Jeremy |

| That's unfortunate. Hopefully TJ can resolve this in an equitable manner since those student retaking the test will already know the SIS and essay questions in advance and can pre-write them at home. |
This will definitely give those kids an advantage. |
And if they offer the affected kids new questions, how can they then make meaningful comparisons between the two groups? Everyone should have the same questions at the same time to be fair. |
