Newbie to Juice Cleanse - Ready to try it

Anonymous
My husband and I are in for a juice cleanse*. We've never done one before. Interested in your recommendations/suggestions/feedback. We don't want to make the juice ourselves, so whatever we can buy from a program or package would be nice. Husband does not drink dairy, so anything with milk or a milk made from nuts or something is off limits. Thanks!!

* Not interested in hearing from people who think this is a dumb idea or unhealthy. Hubs and I are trying something together. Don't flame.

Milk made from nuts counts as dairy?

Why not just use a huge dose of Miralax? That'll clean you out but good.

For him it does. He doesn't like milk or milk-like stuff. Wouldn't drink cows milk, almond milk, rice milk, etc.

Check out Purée in Bethesda.

Sweetgreen also makes fresh juices, which are pretty good. Just make sure the ingredients are fruits and vegetables mostly, without high-calorie additives.
It can get expensive quite fast, though.

Blueprint is one. I think they deliver.

Whole Foods in Alexandria sells bottled juice made daily in store. I recommend the book Clean. Their juice cleanse involves eating some protein (lean, organic meat). It is a much healthier approach.

I highly recommend waiting 2 more months until it's warmer. Your body needs warming foods in the winter and you may be setting yourself up for failure if you do it when it's cold outside.

These are not safe.

Warming foods? No. It doesn't. Don't be ridiculous.

Juice "cleanses" are so gimmicky. They often cause people to take in way more sugar than necessary, from fruits/vegetables stripped of fiber. And juicies that aren't fresh, but have been sitting on the shelf all day (or longer).

Additionally, "cleanse" is a total misnomer. Eat a week of plants (raw, cooked, solid) for a week, and that would be much better. Include nuts, beans, and whole grains in addition to plenty of fruits and veggies.

Don't do a "juice cleanse" - they're really as much of a crock of shit as "snackwells" was in the 90s.

+1. Especially if you are of certain constitutions. That being said, my favorite juice company is Pressed - they are based in CA, but I think they deliver.
