Pedialyte. Out toddler got a stomach bug and threw up non-stop on the flight back from Mexico. Would not do this with kids under six. Sorry.

I think it's always a good idea to travel with a good supply of meds but we went to Mexico two or three times with toddlers and did not have that problem.

We went when my kids were 6 and 4. We had a blast. They still have great memories of being there.

My tip would be to go through the pics of you, that the resort takes, daily. I waited to do it until the last day and their computers were down so we didn't get any pics.

Thanks so much, 18:06. Helpful tip!

If you have any additional tips, fire away.

And thanks to the previous posters regarding meds. We travel frequently to various locations and always come prepared with many meds (yes, including pedialyte packs) , though obviously hoping we won't have to use it.

i took DCs 4 and 1 there last Fall, and will be going again. The childcare is ehh (which meant I was frequently going back to check on them), but otherwise this place is amazing. Unbelievable beach, pool, food, staff, and accommodations. Their family suites have thought of everything. Enjoy!

10:05-Could you give more details as to why the childcare was just 'ehh'. I was hoping to be able to leave the kids at the kids club to enjoy some of the activities while DH and I did some of the grown up activities or even just lounged by the beach.

18:06 here.

Our experience with the childcare was fine. I never felt like I had to check on them, they were great with the kids. We did pick them up for lunch because we wanted to eat with them, but that's optional. The kids sang these cute songs whenever they were in line walking to activities. My kids still sing them and it's been 3 years since we went.

It's a smaller resort so it's not a trek to just go peek into the childcare area whenever you like, if you wish.

Like I said this was a few years ago, so probably not an issue now, but there was a lady that staffed the trapeze that for whatever reason did not take a liking to me. She was pleasant to everyone else though it seemed. If she's still there and you get the side eye, just brush it off. The rest of the staff there was amazing. We actually still keep in touch with some of them through Facebook.

The gift shop has a different sale item each day, we took advantage of one of those days to pick up some souvenir shirts for a good price.

We have gone multiple times with our kids (even when our youngest was 1) and had a great time.
Our kids always say that is their favorite vacation. We didn't go last year and our kids are still complaining about it.
Tips:
Get to dinner early and sit at a table outside and watch the sunset.
Get on a later sleep schedule (hard coming from the east coast some times). The kids put on a show near the end of the week that is very cute, but is put on at 9:00 pm.
We usually go over to Ixtapa island one day, but the snorkeling is not Carribean-type clear water. There is coral and fish, but you can't expect the crystal blue of the Carribean.
We would see our kids during the day and ask if they wanted to leave their group and come down to the beach with us, or go sailing. Sometimes they would, sometimes they would want to do something fun their group was doing. By giving them the choice and not making a big deal out of it, they felt in control.
The servers will bring you frozen margaritas, etc., but also bring the kids frozen strawberry slushies or virgin pina coladas. Great way to beat the afternoon heat on the beach.
Bring a paperback you can read and leave there -- the game room has an informal "library".
The gym is pretty lame, but we played some tennis, went running off the resort on a nice paved running trail, and swam laps in the pool before it became full of pool toys in the afternoon.
Relax. Drop kids off at camp, sit on beach chair, when the server comes over to your beach chair and asks if you want a drink, say yes. Repeat.
