| Big three? Or not? |
| Seems as if the classes are very small. |
| Potomac looks for geographic diversity. If you're not in McLean or Great Falls, it's easier to get in. |
| Not a "big 3" as some folks like to refer to schools but still a good school. Not as hard to get in to as say Sidwell, STA or NCS but still extremely competitive. |
Also helps if you are a desired minority. |
| Hard! Even for siblings! |
OP here: no |
| It helps if you know someone already attending or alumni. |
| Definitely one of the best school in DC area. Always on the national lists of best independent schools. Often ahead of the other ones mentioned as Big 3. Assume that entrance is very competitive. |
I guess the admissions staff reads these posts! Couldn't have said it any better unless one is padi to do so! |
I've actually never seen Potomac show up on a national list, or show up ahead of a Sidwell/St. Albans, for example. They have much lower numbers/percentages of national merit semifinalists, for example. With that said, I'd agree it is one of the best schools in the DC area and that the admissions are very competitive. |
Well, thank you, but with all due respect, why should we care whether you agree or disagree? |
| For K they accept about 25% of applicants, BUT that doesn't account for the impact of sibs, alums, faculty kids, etc. |
Not being facetious but are Asians - Chinese, Indians - considered a desired minority? |
| Potomac does have a national reputation. |
