Spiralizer

Does anyone have this new cooking gadget? What is your review?

I had to look it up because I had never heard of it before. It's like a pencil sharpener for vegetables! But why would you need long strings of carrot or zucchini?

I love, love, love mine.

I love to make "zoodles" and serve them with chicken or red sauce.

DS thinks that the spiralized apples are the coolest thing ever.

I haven't expanded beyond those yet but I'm hoping to soon.

If you don't eat pasta or rice, this gives you a nice fake pasta.

NP here. That's what I was thinking it would be good for. I want one! How much is it?

Amazon has them for between $20 and $25 usually.

You can always get a julienne peeler or use the julienne attachment on your mandoline if you have one.

NP here- I've wanted one too. There are so many on amazon; anyone really love theirs? I'd want it for veggies (sorry, not sure if that's its only purpose or not).

I have the Paderno World Cuisine A4982799 Tri-Blade Plastic Spiral Vegetable Slicer from Amazon. Love it.

Do you use it mostly for veggies? How often do you use it?

I bought mine at Williams Sonoma, and I have made baked curly fries so far. I bought zucchini to make zucchin "pasta" with a marinara and chicken sauce to top it. I am excited to try it. The best part is that it is easy to use and clean.

Do you cook the "zoodles"?
Anonymous
I use it a few times a week and yes, I cook the zoodles in a little ghee or sometimes chicken broth. Not for very long.

What is ghee?

It is an Indian oil. I am not Indian, so if I am wrong hopefully someone will correct me.
